Send a Compliment at 15:59 PDT, 8 October, 2009There is one thing that is really starting to annoy me now. I have a website that is no better or worse than 90% of the sites who add their links here. But often I see that my links and other like mine gets deleted, even if the videos and/or links on our sites are fully working. This happens most often on episodes where there are not so many results. Suspiciously, the links that do not get deleted are sites where you have to complete a survey to unlock the content...
Most recently this happened on a show with just a few results. Suddenly there was just one link left, and it was to one of the survey-sites. I added my link again and a little while later it was deleted and only the survey-site was left. This happened many times during the whole evening. If my link was so bad it should be deleted, then the survey-site should have been deleted also. But it was always the only link left. A bit suspicious...
I know the site must be bombarded with links, so cleaning it up must be really difficult and I think the moderators are doing a great job. But I wish there was a way to make it a bit more difficult for people to delete links. Now its so easy for someone to delete other links so they can get more exposure on their own links. I might be wrong, but from what I've seen many times, it seems like its the spammers that are doing a lot of deleting.
Before you could at least check the link history to see who added and deleted links. It would be great to have that feature back again, and I think it could help in the fight against spamming.

Thanks for your comments, Melena! If you see that happening on particular show pages, please email us at spamsucks@sidereel.com. In general, moderators and admins are around the site and when that happens, they will remove and ban the spam site with the survey, and re-add all the good content the spammer removed. If you see that's not happening or you want to notify us to check a page, just let us know at that spam address. Thanks a bunch!

I'm starting to notice that this site does not like one bit of criticism..not only are links being removed but so are good sites being banned and accounts being banned when they stand as competition to some of the folks on this site. I've emailed, turned to the forums and all i do is have my threads deleted, my sites banned and that's following all of the guidelines here. Can ppl here not handle a little competition?
@webpublisher - we only ban sites that violate our rules, meaning they require users to fill something out, download, or pay when it's not safe for them to do so, or if they are removing good links, spamming their own, or if they include excessive and intrusive ads to users clicking on the links. An account would only be deactivated if you were excessively spamming and not responding to warnings.

I've actually emailed that, sent a message to the person who banned me. Seriously I built my site around higher standards and I created my own site only because I was tired of dealing with 80 thousand pop ups, filling out 16 minute long surveys to be led to a movie that didn't work and sites that google ended up listing as harmful to my computer. My ads are on the sides of my background. The only other ads are on the player which you click to close and it auto launches the video. That's it. I even have live chat 24 hours a day with my users. You cannot find one bad remark about my site anywhere online, infact it's so anti those things that its now increasing in traffic because others are referring us. I really don't know what else to say, I can't even post my link for you to review my site...since they banned it site wide. I've emailed you guys and its still not unbanned, and the process quite frankly is leaving me a bit bitter since I only found out in the process of adding something you didn't have and had already written out reviews, found images etc. Also my contributions being taken down was super annoying as I couldn't even be emailed a report of why.
Oh yeah I also never was given any sort of warning, and the mod who decided to ban my acount and site didn't even take a second to help me work out/address whatever they didn't like about my contributions. You build a site by interaction not by exclusion.
If you were so worried about your site being respected for "higher standards", you should have respected SideReel in return. You were given more consideration because you were new, but enough was enough. Contributions to SideReel must be done within the guidelines.
You were sent multiple warning messages on your other username, cinemahaven, as well as this one, which were deleted. As I told you in those messages, you added links to new release movies, which is not allowed, and did so with excessive tags. When those links were deleted and you were warned to stop, you ignored those warnings, and proceeded to deface wiki pages instead with your links (e.g. Paranormal Activity). When you were told to stop doing that, you added Post spam, which is also not allowed.
As a result, first your domain was banned, and when you continued, your other account was deactivated. You then created this new account, and sent multiple messages pretending you are an innocent party. It's just not on.
TVqueen with all due respect, I sent you a compliment earlier and got no reply as far as I can tell. In addition let's not get into the topic of standards as I don't know you and you don't know me. I'm signing in as an innocent party? lol..are you serious? When was I ever a guilty party to begin with? I absolutely love the idea of this site and its potential...why would I come in here to destroy my chances of being able to use it? Does it not hurt me from a business point to not follow your guidelines and not be associated with your site? Do you understand the lack of resources out there for us? So again why would I come here voluntarily to violate your rules? I read about all the text possible on what I could and could not post..at no time was it seen that I could not post for new releases. I have 250 movies that don't fall under the new releases category..I have enough search engine prowess that I don't need anymore backlinks to my new stuff so why would I go out of my way to get banned just to get a link? Clearly I took to your forum because I was perplexed. I'll gladly give anyone here my password so they can log in as me and show me one message I received from TV queen..seriously if you are a mod sign in as me and check..because I have none..as far as I can see there is no way of sending a message outside of compliments which is why I sent tv queen a message via compliment to inquire about my posting..did I not ask you why my movie link was removed? So why would you think I did this voluntarily? Seriously take a second and think about this...why would I still be here fighting for a chance to be part of this site? I can think of a million forums I can join with no issue but why would I be here now trying to sort this out if I didn't actually care?
You've taken an accusatory position instead of just reaching out to me..I've emailed your site, i've sent mods messages, i've even gone as far as rereading your guidelines and still I can't get an answer until I get mad inside your forum.
I'm not asking to have the seas parted, i'm simply asking for a chance to resume my activity on this site. If I can't post my link for new movies..cool. I've made 4 postings, 3 under industry (2 which where links and 1 which was a movie comment) and 1 today under web publisher..if I had known I couldn't post links to new movies why would I rejoin after being banned by one account to do it with one link to get banned again? I hope you can at least understand as much..if I was here just to spam or violate rules I would've flooded your movie section up and down..I made 4 entries only..how do I know because just like you guys I have a daily challenge in dealing with spammers. I publish 7 sites..I seriously don't have the time to keep up this fight with you folks.
All i'm asking if for you to visit my site..tell me if I violate anything in terms of that and then guide me in how to post properly on your site. If I can't be reinstated, i'm sorry our relationship was short lived but I wish you guys the best. Thanks for the great service and cheers.
Also here's a question, are the messages you sent under "NOTIFICATIONS" because i'm on safari+mac+leopard and when I click notifications it has no action at all..i'm serious here folks..I have not gotten one single message ever from anyone on this site besides a compliment I can't even see when I click my compliments button.
As you said, I don't know you. Therefore, determination can only be based on your misbehaviour on the site. You 'were' sent warning messages, several of them as I was on site patrol when you were breaking the rules, and I allowed you more than one chance and warning since you were new. When you decided to continue the behaviour that was getting you in trouble, that was on you.
You were not banned because you posted links on the new releases; you were told not to do that again. You were banned because you continued after that with rule breaking behaviour when you defaced the wiki and when you posted links in posts.

The warning messages were under compliments. None of the ones I sent you are on your page any longer. Again, deleting them doesn't mean you can ignore them. This is my last message here on this subject because I have no intention of continue to argue the points. Thank you TVQueen but as i've clearly stated i've done this without reply and therefore I took to your forum. In regards to your messages, I beg of you, in fact I plead with you to sign in with either account and find them yourself..i'd love for you to even provide me a link to these messages because again i'll say it...you did not send me a message that I received. When I asked earlier where I can find these messages you didn't inform me where..are they in notifications or someplace else because I don't have any messages. I'm not asking to even draw out this issue i'm asking so I can find any future messages going forward, Just answer me that one question please.
In terms of the Wiki..that I was not aware of. My apologies to you and the rest of the moderators on this site for my lack of knowledge on what I could do in the wiki.
Thank you for your suggestion TVQUEEN it's been unbanned, can you look over my reviews and link postings so far and let me know if i'm doing everything to your approval? Or perhaps make a suggestion on anything I can change?
