Send a Compliment at 9:40 PDT, 12 October, 2009You may have noticed a change to the My Profile tab on SideReel. We've moved Favorites to the sidebar to make room for an exciting upcoming feature, Playlists.
Our goal is to make Playlists a great tool to keep up-to-date with your favorite shows. Look for an early release of it later this week!
Some of you may have already noticed that we removed the Episode Tracker from your profile. This was supposed to happen with the release of Playlists but some critical site performance issues forced our hand. The internet is a finicky beast.
In the weeks ahead we'll release Playlist Subscriptions to replace the Episode Tracker and help you stay up-to-date with your favorite TV shows.
Apologies for removing the Episode Tracker too early, we'll have something to replace it soon!
I look forward to feedback about Playlists, the removal of the Episode Tracker, or anything else. We want to make this site the best possible; the more you say the more it helps.

I'm excited to check out the new feature. It sounds like it has some cool potential, if it's what I think it is! That being said...
You guys are super awesome and I really appreciate all you do for us but please please please I want my episode tracker back!!!
It's rare that I go to a show's page unless there is a new episode. I can do everything I want from my profile. The episode tracker is one of the very top reasons I love your site. When I want to watch something, I log in and scroll down for updates. If it says stay tuned, I know I'm not missing anything.
Even when I am not happy with any of the links listed for an episode (for example, there are only 2 and they both load really slow) and find myself searching other sites, you are always open on the first tab and I use my episode tracker to guide me on the other site and log what I watch when there. (Don't be jealous now...you'll always be number one in my heart.)
Isn't there a way for to have both on my profile? Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top????

I gotta say I was really disapointed these days because of the removal of the episode tracker. It was pretty much THE feature that I was using on Sidereel.com Though knowing that in improve version of an awesome feature is upcoming just cheers me up and I'm eager to know more and check it out.
NOOOOO! I love this site BECAUSE of the episode tracker! I can't watch my favorite shows the week they come on, usually. The episode tracker helped me to know how far back i needed to go! I'm really disappointed you guys didn't deem it worthy of keeping.
the reason i use this site is because of the episode tracker, and i especially liked all my shows being listed on one page, really hope you bring that back, or make a separate page is the profile tab for favorites
Well I am not much annoyed because of the episode-tracker removal but i am on the edge of furious cause now whenever u click on a link on the search-results-site u have yet another site of sidereel telling u, u r heading to another site...is it really necessary??? can't u just make it like before? I mean when a link is broken u have to go back and wait for the site to load. It is about making it easier for us, right? It was easier before ;)
Make it like it was the search results and directly to the extended link we choose, or at least explain why it was changed!

@Bananastasia - First off, awesome user name. Once we get Playlists out we'll definitely evaluate if it's helping solve the same problem as the Episode Tracker was. If we need both, we'll make both work!
@cruelncute - I hear you. I think Playlists will help you do the same thing, only make it even easier. I can't wait to hear what you think about it.
@bg42888 - We're definitely going to be making more changes to the profile page to make it more usable, including breaking it into tabs.
@TheRani1981 - I really appreciate your feedback about the change to links. We've heard from a number of users that they were getting viruses/malware/inappropriate ads from sites so we wanted to make sure users knew where they were going before they went there. Hence that new page. We're looking at putting in an option so that you can choose to never see that page. Would that help?

Have to agree with the others, this is an awesome site and the episode tracker was great. Hoping the new feature will be as good or better. Like TheRani said, having the extra page is quite annoying and it would be great if we could just go straight to the link.

Well I'm very happy the the episode Tracker will have a proper replacement. And I love new and better things. I'm excited, can't wait to play with this new toy!
The new playlist sounds exciting but i like how my favourite bar is right now, since the different sized images give the site a bit of character (in my opinion). to be honest, i hardly used the episode tracker, since i would remember what episode i was due to watch next by reading the little episode guide, so removing it didn't really affect me at all. but i would like to see the new gadget it will be replaced with.
If you can really put in an option so i never have to see this page again, i am happy like a kid in a candy store :)

Thanks for considering my suggestion about improving this part of the site (I'm guessing other people asked for this too).
The episode tracker was fine by itself, BUT the only flaw that I was very, very disappointed at was that it showed yet unaired episodes. I expected it to function as a tool which will show me if there is a new episode I HAVEN'T WATCHED of the favorite shows I subscribed to.
i have to agree with what everyone has said so far, I loved the episode tracker and found it a great way to check what episode I was up to and it was idiot proof, now i find myself going back and forth checking and getting nowhere. Cant wait for the new features to arrive, love the site though and really appreciate the work you do.
This afternoon we'll take the covers off the first iteration of playlists. It'll still be rough, but we wanted to get something out to you as soon as possible. We'll have some nice updates coming for it next week too!
