By the Numbers: ABC Returns Not So Sexy

The ABC trio of Pushing Daisies, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money - all new series of last Fall that were strike-abbreviated - returned last night.

Unfortunately, all returned to lower numbers than their debuts one year ago (which had been relatively strong).

Pushing Daisies had 6.3 million viewers, and ranked a series-low fourth place.

Private Practice had 8.2 million viewers, a 37% decline from last Fall.

Dirty Sexy Money had a 33% drop with 7 million viewers, though that number was higher than the show's final episode last season.

So...have you all found love for new shows instead? Did you lose interest in these? Are they just not that good (I'm looking at you, Private Practice)? What's up?

Give it time people, I think they will have a comeback as soon as people are used to have them back again, give them another 2 episodes and audience is back on the track.

Specially for Pushing Daisies, the premiere was excellent !

I thought the season premiere of Private Practice was pretty good! OK it wasn't exactly the best thing that has ever been on TV but it was good enough!

it's also because not alot of people sit at home watching tv every night i find myself catching up on episodes after i come home from school online more and more each day, i did watch the season premiere last night but im just saying that alot of people might not. I personally love the show i really hope that this dumb technicallity doesn't ruin it. (btw im watching lee pace in "Miss Pettigrew lives for a day" right now, hes great in this movie for anyone who wants to check it out.)

I watched Pushing Daisies live last night, and it was incredible. I think a lot of the reason viewing was down was because these shows had such short first seasons, more than anything - it's not that they're necessarily forgettable, it was just a long period of time without episodes. Once people start hearing about them more again, viewing will pick back up.

Private Practice was also up against the finale of America's Got Talent. They won't have that problem next week. Should be interesting to see how that will affect Private Practice.

Even though Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money's premiere numbers were low, I really enjoyed both shows. Especially DSM's ending twist, I never would have ever guessed. The private practice episode was very interesting, and kind of emotional. Can't wait to see episode 2 for both shows.

Pushing daisies is an amazing show with awesome artistic direction. I will always stay loyal to them, I watch it online through ABC so they know I'm watching it (do this with shows you like to keep them alive.. if they host it for free, there's no reason not to and it's usually the best quality you can find)
