Debate Haters Beware: Barack Has Just Purchased 30 Minutes of Primetime TV
All of you debate haters (read the comments) might not be happy about this: US Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama has purchased 30 minutes of Primetime Television on Wednesday, October 29th.
So...at 8PM on NBC and CBS (preempting Knight Rider and Gary Unmarried) for a mere estimated 2 million dollars...Obama will be occupying your TV Screens.
As is federal law, the same opportunity will be offered to John McCain, though it is unclear at this point whether McCain's camp is interested (re: has enough money).
This is the first time in 16 years (when Ross Perot did so in 1992) that a candidate has bought primetime TV for a campaign infomercial.
In other TV-related election news, the Sarah Palin SNL cameo is ON!

Should be illegal completely, or free for both partys at a set time.
No one should be allowed to buy louder speachs then anyone else, and money certainly shouldnt be wasted on this.
They should both begiven slots in which to run party political broadcasts or neither should get one. Just because someone has enough money to buy it does not mean that they are the best person to be running the country. Therefore both candidiates should have access. (Not meaning to sound Anti-Obama [I think he would be great for you guys]) But what if he couldn't afford it and McCain could!
I like McMain and he can afford it. His wife has Money comming out the assssssssss
i think they should make a channel for this kind of thing and only allow them to put their shit on that channel. I don't really care for either of those shows, but it still makes me angry.

hmm, wake up, the person with the biggest campaign funds always wins the election.
ALL candidates should have equal access to air time and debate time... that INCLUDES all of the THIRD parties!!!
Everyone has access and a choice to get their message out how ever they choose. I just don't think McCain could fill a 30 min slot with intelligent dialogue.
Welcome to America, friends. If you don't think that money has anything to do with their campaigning then you are sadly mistaken or uninformed. Is it the right way? No. But why else do you think more people don't run for president? The more money you have- the more exposure you get- and the more chance you'll have of getting elected. If only Americans were interested enough to do their own research and find out who's truly good for the job and stands for the things that they believe to be important rather than letting primetime TV determine it for them we might not have this dilemma.
That's my little rant. In any case- if you're of age to vote- do your research - skip out on the political TV infomercials- and pick the candidate that best represents you. Oh yeah, and then GO VOTE!
I don't care I despise Republicans and I don't trust Democrats. Obama and McCain can go adopt an African kid together for all I care. I won't be voting for either of them. Vote McKinney. Vote Barr. Vote Nader. Vote anyone that's not those two losers.
Ok maybe not Barr. But I'd take him over McCain. If McCain wins I'm expatriating. OK maybe not but still.

Ralph Nader agrees with you maybe you should vote for him.
In America, third party voting is generally a waste of time. Your vote will generally be a non-vote-vote for the last person you'd want to see up there, since it wasn't used to oppose him.
In Australia, we have preferential voting where our votes are ranked. Our vote for a third (fourth, fifth) party candidate might be marked as the one we most want to see in office, but if that person is effectively out of the running, then it goes to our next preference until it matches one of the finalists instead. This way no one's vote is wasted on someone who doesn't stand a snowball's by having low percentages.
So, if you are extremely anti-Obama, but you vote for Barr or any of the third party candidates in America, you are effectively voting *for* Obama by not voting for the only one who will wind up opposing him in the end, McCain.
