Sookie's Cheesey White Dress

| loading

Ok, so I really loved episode six. It was so exciting to watch Sookie run out of the house to go meet Bill. But did anyone else have a problem with that dress she was wearing? You know, the white virginal nightgown with the long flowing sleeves. Omg, I was almost chocking with laughter. I thought they were trying to stay away from stereotypes! I don't think anything screams "cheesey old vampire movie" than a girl in a virginal full length white dress offering herself up to her vampire lover.

Why did they have to put her in that silly thing!?!?!

opinions??

Dunno. I thought it was her gran's. And it was probably written in the book.

I thought what was cheesy was the way she ran and the music, not the actual dress. Her facial expression didn't help.

But hey...the show IS slightly cheesy. That's half the appeal.

yes, sometimes the acting is just overrated, and then I remember how crazy she is seen by folks! the symbol of the white wedding nightgown is obvious, it's her first time - and she is not married...the place of religion always matters while dealing with vampires issues! some things are just so cliché...I prefered the book approach to their romance by far ...though the idea was purity and real love compared with the graphic sex scenes of the beginning episodes....

hahahaahhaa yes, yes, yes, I totally agree, I love this show, but that dress, what were they thinking. And in the book she was wearing and over sized t-shirt, definitely not a dress that you are likely to see on a Danielle Steel romance novel cover.

I thought the dress was gorgeous. I figured it belonged to her grandmother, totally cliche but still very pretty.

Loved the dress, fit the scene perfectly.

i love the dress ... it was perfect ... but they did kind of go over the top with the running scene .. where bill see's her and she see's him and they run up to each other and kiss ...(a bit old fashioned don't you think)

The dress was super cheesy; that scene was much better in the books.

Well Sookie is pretty cheesy when it comes to romance and sex...she was so protective of her virginity. I saw it as a conscious decision by her to seem as virginal and innocent as possible. Maybe that was just me

She was a virgin after all, so I don't really think it was cheesy. The dress was gorgeous. I can't believe they waited six whole episodes to do that.

I thought the nightgown had a simple old worldly elegance to it.....and like other people have said I think it helped to set the scene and imply her "pureness" as being naive and a virgin. It wasn't mentioned in the book......in the book they had sex at her house.....I liked the book scene better because he brushes her hair for her after her shower and it slowly progresses into romance. I really liked that he would take the time to help her brush out the tangles in her hair.....it showed he cared. LOL in the book she usually just wears plain boring pajamas like a tee shirt and shorts.

I have read the books and I love them but to tell you the truth sookie in the television version annoys the hell out of me. She just comes across as annoying, stupid and naive. Every episode I'm expecting her to get smarter and it doesn't happen. Maybe its because I imagined her differently when reading the book but Anna Paquin's version of Sookie is just not believable.

I thought the dress was perfect for the occasion, considering she was a virgin.

The running, well considering they live across the field from one another, at least it wasnt a long run and I thought the scene of the kiss was perfect. You have to remember Bill is still in the frame of mind of the time that he came from, he's not hip to the current times I don't think.

The dress was just over emphasising her purity, but she did look pretty...Also remember if you've read the books you always, and not just in the case of True Blood, construct the scenes differently in your mind, like how you picture the characters, their actions, ect. And seeing it on TV or in a movie can tend to be a let down....The dress was overkill, but hey could always have been cheesier. A great show none the less.

I can see what they are getting at with the whole white dress thing but wow........ it just seemed like sookie was a .... child. and she kind of ran like a weirdo . Bill was so hot with the coming out of the house with the blue eyes and such but she just didn't sell it like i thought she should have.... after the scene was over i was like "thats it?" "they chose that cheezy scene to be Sookie's monumental first time with Bill?" oh well i LOVE the show and whatever they are doing .... it's amazing.... I will crawl out of my skin waiting for next weeks episode!
