DjembeDjammer Send a Compliment at 19:29 PDT, 16 October, 2008Monster movie was a good episode, I loved it, but the episode brought one particular phrase to mind, "jumping the shark." You can't really say that the show has really jumped the shark yet since it was pretty entertaining, I especially enjoyed the allusion to Frankenstein. I was, however, a pretty abnormal episode for such an intensely paranormal TV show.
Also, the entire time I watched, I kept thinking of tricksters even though I already knew the monster was a shapeshifter. It just felt very similar to the second season episode "Tall Tales."

I thought it was awful - cliched, hackneyed, the works. Nothing original, pretty much as i predicted it would be - as ALL the tribute to the B&W film episodes of EVERY series that has done one tend to be.
yeah, fudgfase...I can see why some people really wouldn't like it. In the overall scheme of things it was pointless.
But it was frequently hilarious and it was supposed to be hackneyed. And Dean's "virginity" claim was classic. As was Sam guessing his favorite movie.
So...I enjoyed it, whether it was relevant or not. It's just not my favorite.
I really enjoyed this one. The episodes this season have all been really deep and dramatic...amazing...but still quite heavy. It was nice to have an episode that could make fun of itself. Yes, it was predictable and yes, it was cliche, but we knew it would be. The idea was to create an entertaining, stand-alone, hilarious episode. I must say that I haven't laughed so hard in a long time...I loved it.
