makes no sense

ok so, can anyone explain to me why it took the kid at least 24hours (considering dad took dog in the morning and they arrived at least at 8pm) to start reacting when in the end people just took less than 5 minutes? I mean, should she not have eaten her mother and a couple other by the time the fire fighters arrived?

just a thought.
