Episode Recap: "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester"

| loading

This week on Supernatural, Sam and Dean tried to stop the raising of Samhain, a demon associated with the origins of Halloween. Yeah, Samhain's return is significant. Raising him breaks one of the 66 seals which means Lucifer is that much closer to walking the Earth. Meanwhile, Castiel is back and we're introduced to a new angel. Uriel's not as "touchy-feely" as Cas and is definitely opinionated when it comes to the Winchester brothers.

After watching the ep, I think that Sam's role in everything is more than just becoming a possible leader of the demon armies. When Samhain rose and took over the corpse, it made me think that Lucifer has to do the same, but since he's the big bad king of demons, he needs a stronger body to inhabit. And that's where Sam with his crazy demon blood comes in.

HUH! Scary idea wombatzo. Sam's meant to be possessed by LUCIFER?

A neat theory, to be sure. And they keep suggesting we don't know Azazel's full plan. Hmmm...you've got me thinking.

I hear in wishful thinking that Sam discovers a new ability that scares Dean half to death...and in the trailer Sam is struck by lightning. Someone suggested that perhaps nothing supernatural can kill Sam. It's a long-shot, but I can see it.

So imagine if Lucifer not only possessed Sam for his powers, but also for his invulnerability?

    Speculations, speculations.

I get so very excited about Sammy's plot-line. I need more of it.

nice theory thomtinuviel. I like what you think about Lucifer possessing Sam for his invulnerability. Maybe its the plan and its gonna be massive! So the angels warn Sam not to use his demon power because he might be stronger and stronger just to be possessed by Lucifer.

But I still have a feeling that Sam would put up one hell of a fight, even against Lucifer.

Also, he and Dean have those tattoos that prevent them from being possessed...well, Dean doesn't anymore.

I can't wait to see where all this is going.

yeah me too. Sam is not evil, though. He just have demon blood. He would fight

I totally forgot about the tattoos thing. But I think Dean still have it, at least until 'Lazarus Rising' as I remember seeing it. I'll check later.

Is season 4 really the last season?

the tattoo thing might be a 'movie-mistake' for all we know and the producers and directors didnt notice :D

no...I just assumed that since he'd gotten back without scars and with his virginity supposedly intact, he shouldn't have a tattoo. Hmm.

Season four probably won't be the last season. Kripke's always been determined to do five and only five.

Earlier, when the actors and crew mentioned they might only do four seasons, they hadn't aired the fourth season yet. But "Lazarus Rising" got record ratings and the show's nowhere near getting canceled anymore. Really, it's up to the Supernatural team. It's their decision. I'm thinking breaking the remaining seals will take some time. Two seasons' worth.

I remember seeing it when he look at his body in front of mirror in gas station. Maybe it only take out the scar but leave tattoo.

Yeah you probably right. Way to go Supernatural. But if they tend to do five season, I wonder what will be the cliffhanger for the fourth season. Big fight between Sam and Lilith? hm..

  9. thomtinuviel thomtinuviel Send a Compliment - 13:53 PST, 6 November, 2008

Nah...I'm betting the cliffhanger this season will end on will be : SAM'S EVIL!!! AH! GO GET HIM, DEAN!

    or, in other terms:

Sam and Dean will be separated by opposing powers...Lucifer may possess Sam or something and Dean will realize finally that something has to change.

Probably Lilith will be out of the picture as well. There's a new big bad coming next episode.

Also : theory - Dean and his hell flashbacks. "I don't deserve to be brought back" attitude. Do you think he was forced to hurt other people while he was in hell and he's ashamed of it?

that would also explain the reason why he got yellow fever and sam didn't

hey, wait, the demon killing knife and the colt are the only daemon killing weapons, but the colt was introduced as a gun that could kill anything, so that include angels? or big bad lucy? wait, where is that gun anyway?

hmmm...so the supernatural death thing isn't true. And no sammy powers yet...we've still got eight minutes.

  14. thomtinuviel thomtinuviel Send a Compliment - 18:53 PST, 6 November, 2008

quick theory - maybe sam can MAKE people do what he tells them too

  15. thomtinuviel thomtinuviel Send a Compliment - 18:57 PST, 6 November, 2008

so...no sammy powers after all. Next time.

  16. icecrash icecrash Send a Compliment - 21:43 PST, 6 November, 2008

Yeah I remember Dean said something about being hell toy or something. Dont really remember. Maybe what he meant is killing or hurting people in hell. And Lilith saying 'all the fun you had down there' so he think he dont deserve to be saved. Can't wait for Dean's hell story and Sam's 4 month story.

Yeah they never mention the colt anymore.

I havent watch ep 8. Just started streaming.

Random theory- I think Dean gonna end up in hell again. Please dont get me wrong I dont wish it to happen but I just think it might happen cause usually the flashback in the beginning has to be connected to that certain episode, and it keep repeating Castiel saying "I drag you out of hell I can throw you back in" and it make me worried. I hope I was wrong.

sometimes I have to wonder if the whole series will end with both of them dying to save the world. After all, where can their lives really go? It's sad, but after a lifetime of what they've gone through, there's no way either of the brothers will be able to "settle down" and be happy.

    They have to keep fighting.

We're going to have to lose at least one of them...hard as it is to imagine one without the other, I can see the whole self-sacrifice thing playing into it all again. Dean might die for his little brother, or Sam might die so that he and his "bad blood" don't do any more damage.

Neither alternative makes me happy...but how else could Supernatural ever conclude? I feel like Kripke and Co. have known the ending all along.

    What are the alternatives?
