Too Many Category Locks!

I do understand that Sidereel needs to fight spam and to do that, category locks are necessary..


But I really believe that category locks are getting too many. Earlier today I wanted to add my website links to some of the shows (Gossip Girl, Dexter, Family Guy, Heroes, etc) and I could add to NONE! All the categories were locked..


Can someone here tell exactly how long is a category locked for before it automatically opens up?


I respect all the rules here and just want to make a positive contribution.. that's all.

    Is there a particular reason almost all the shows are locked at the moment? I've been going around reporting spammers in the review sections and I have yet to see an unlocked page.

    That is why the shows are locked down. If you will notice, those same spammers, under multiple aliases, are also posting their crap in the links. So the pages are being locked down while they are cleaned up. Also, the most popular tv shows and movies have been locked down lately for the same reason. Thank you for your understanding while we get rid of the scum.

    That makes sense and I totally agree. It is a good idea. I guess I just get hung up on the fact that when spam is put in the links section, conscious users can delete the links. I know I use to do that all the time. But when they are put in the review section, for example, the user can only report the post, maybe email you guys. The fake links in the review sections are then left there for a long time until one of the mods can get around to deleting them or whatever you guys can do. I know it seems like a lot, but maybe you guys could lock the review sections. The same people keep posting the same posts on a ton of shows and it takes hours for anything to get done. I feel really bad for any of the new people or people unaware of these scams, but I can't do anything about them as a normal user like I could have if they were just links.


    Overall, however, I think you guys are doing a great job. Hopefully all of those scammers and spammers will be gone soon and we can get back to normal around here :)
