Send a Compliment at 13:39 PST, 18 November, 2008Well, this episode was a bit of a snoozer, but there were some redeeming qualities.
For me, Nathan and Haley really hit the ball out of the park. Their scenes were adorable, with Nathan playing the humble bartender going after the big star - pretty much the opposite of the big basketball going after the tutor, hmm? The best part for me was the soundtrack, a great deal of which was sung by Bethany Joy Galeotti herself! I've listened to the song at the end of the episode about 50 times (http://www.myspace.com/stlolainthefields.)
Peyton's and Lucas' scenes were the worst for me - so cheesy! Peyton seemed like a genuine femme fatale, but Lucas' cheesiness and now it's here, now it's not 40's accent were driving me crazy. I actually preferred their very brief scenes in the present to the flirtatiousness in Lucas' dream. I think Mouth embodied the spirit of the old movies the best. I could definitely imagine him next to Humphrey Bogart at a bar. Julian also did a great evil flunkie. Brooke looked gorgeous in that red dress and lipstick, and I thought her interactions with Lucas were more interesting than Peyton's.
The connections in this episode were a bit weird - why were Julian, Brooke and Peyton all tied to Dan? Why did Dan and Haley KISS?? (EW!) Some things were very close to reality - like Peyton's car breaking down, Naley's plans to name their son Jamie, and Keith's murder - but others, like the relationship between Dan and Peyton's mother, were just weird.
I wish they'd showed Deb, I think she'd be a great 1940's character, especially with Skillz (the stereotypical "colored" piano player! I wonder how Antwon Tanner felt about that!) . I also wish Owen had more to do.
As for Peyton's collapse at the end, I'm convinced that she's pregnant and maybe something gone wrong. If they gave her a terminal illness, I would shoot Chad Michael Murray in the face! All in all, an acceptable first effort from CMM. Definitely not the worst episode, but one of the best.

Who else thinks the baby might be julians...?
I don't know if thats possible because I don't know how long ago their relationship was...
actually can it be possible? Considering Jamie was 5 ages ago and the first season 5 episode was when julian and peyton were broken up and that was roughly 4 years, 9 months after he was born.

i totally agree..
the scenes between nathan and haley were great so sweet and cute en romantic. the kissed more in this episode then the hole season:P but then i didnt get why owen was beat up from dan and why peyton and julian had to die. but mouth was great to but chad should just keep it to acting he is more better in that
I am sorry, usually i love One tree Hill and look forward to it every week , but this was SO bad!!!!!! did the writers run out of story line and just add this in to make another episode!!!????
This was a real dissappointment- it had no place in the series and was really random! I have looked forward to watching this all week- and was thoroughly let down :(
The only interesting part was at the end when peyton fell- which unfortunately took 40 mins of watching crap to get too.
Worst one tree hill episode ever, just a filler where nothing significant happens except for the ending, and the idea of having a dream in the 1940 has been done like a million times I mean wow couldn´t have sucked more even if they tried. too bad i used to like this show
its a good show. if all you have is negativity dont put it here. I liked it and i like this show.

It Was Not bad it was something different that is also nice some times to just watch a tottaly different epsiode but with those great actors only dan was to violent
hey, i´m not dissing the whole show! anyone who likes one tree hill knows and accepts that the dialogue can get pretty cheesy from time to time. just part of the charm. i think although this episode was visually interesting, it didn´t move the action along at all. i`m all about the action! (and seeing as much owen as possible.)
Last episode was an absolute disaster.... i didn't think that there could be an hommage to black and wight movies in this. Well, it was'nt a good idea, the plot doesn't move forward, and the hommage really sucked.

i think it was different ,but not bad different. it was not the best show they've ever had.But i must say that CMM gave it good effort. i acutally thought it was pretty cool. I've always liked the 1940's stuff. and even though it did not really move things along. it was cute. Naley and even though i don't like Leyton much they were pretty cute in this too. i mean it was not the greatest but it was not bad. you had to get it and be a real fan.
