VH1's Sex: The Revolution
The past two nights I've tuned into VH1's "Rockumentary," "Sex: The Revolution". This documentary explores the sexual revolution in the United States and how sex has changed in media, politics and acceptance since the 1950's. This four-part series has (so far) proved to be a quite interesting documentary, and it's definitely worth checking out!
Some familiar faces we see are Hugh Heffner, Gloria Steinem, Masters & Johnson, and Albert Kinsey. The narrators talk about contraception, reproductive rights, the summer of love, "free love", the "discovery" and liberation of female orgasms, and basically the changes we see in how sex is viewed in society through the decades.
It's quite fascinating to see how far we've come from the '50s, and to see how such things as Playboy and Cosmopolitan changed the way sex is viewed! It begs the question that although we've come so far, is it far enough??
