taggedangel Send a Compliment at 18:22 PST, 2 December, 2008as we all know doomsday has entered into smallville, and most of you know that he kills superman, although superman is ressurected this has brought up many questions and hopes for me, including will superman finally reveal his true identity to the world (superman not clark kent), when will he learn to fly (i'm rather hoping not in season 8 because then season 9 is all but guaranteed), and will we see him marry lois lane as he does in the comics, hopefully smallville will finally tell the story of the legendary superman.
btw i'm not a nerd i just love smallville and hope that season 8 won't be the last.

yeah,well as you may have noticed,this isn't the exact story of superman,it's an alternate time-line,so who knows what's going to happen,i mean the legion is going to show up in February....
january and yh but they have to keep true to the main story in some aspects e.g they can't let superman die etc.
Well they do keep elements of the comic story in the show but they have as mentioned changed alot of the points on interaction. Look at Lex, Supermans enemy yet his friend in Smallville, someone who he relates too, look at his best friend Chloe a character who did not exist in the comic. So there is no set pattern to say they got to follow the comic book, all they have to do really is have the character in the show and then they can take it the direction they want to explore. Personally i like how they have mixed things up, made it fresh, having these characters who we all know in such different situations is awesome.
he doesnt learn to fly in Smallville. they said so. they had a no costume no flight rule, where until he actually wears the uniform he wont fly on the show. but the guy that plays him said that he never intended to wear the uniform when he joined the show so i guess were never gonna see him fly.
They changed the no flights thing, in an interview with the creaters they said yeah we are still going for the whole no tights thing, and then someone asked if he was going to fly and they basically said yes without saying it
i hope so we have seen him fly once, so it isn't outta the question, i guess we'll have to wait and see.
he never died... he was left an inch from death...so he never died and came back he just owned so hardcore he had to rest
The writers apparently have two story arcs lined up, depending of whether or not there is a season 9.
If there is going to be a season 9, Clark kents "Death" would be a likely cliff hanger ending to season 8.
i am a big smallville fan, but realistically it cant go on forever.
firstly, smallville is based on supermans early life, so they probably wont make him fly yet, if not at all. i doubt there will be a seaon 9 because they cant stretch clarks character any more than they already have, without turning him into the fully fledged superman, i.e the one that flys, wears glasses...etc and that isnt supposed to happen in smallville- in smallville he is not yet "the superman".
i doubt tom welling wants to carry on smallville for much longer. the only possibility i see is that they do a smallville movie just for the fans and to give it a good send off. or they change smallville into another superman series starting from his adult years as the proper fully fledged superman, they probably wouldnt use the same actors though because it would be a whole different show....
the point is smallville has come to the end of its life span if the writers plan to stick to the basic story of the comics. which was that smallville is before superman was superMAN.
GGirl_CB4BW it actually isnt just abvout his early life it is about his journey into his secret identity they could carry on if they wanted. They have done the smallville story and if you were correct they would have ended it when clark left high school. So your wrong and in the loads of epiosdes they have indicated that they will see the story though, and also they would not have introduced louis to the story!!! I can see how they might not because of the actors and crew, but because of the writers strick im not so sure, because they have had to come up with more storylines and also lex hasnt made his return yet and i think from what i have seen of season 8 that they will leave his return til the season finally i think that they will stop at 10. Also smallville was named so because so mant TV shows and Films have the title of SUPERMAN.
guess we'll just have to wait and see i just hope it doesn't end because i love it and it would be sad to see it finish, but i also respect that they might have just run it's course.
