We knew that one fallout of the shocking 5 year leap on Desperate Housewives would be the loss of or recasting of certain characters on the show.
It seems that one of these instances will be with Susan's daughter Julie, played by Andrea Bowen.
Bowen first thought that she might have to cut her hair or something, in an attempt to look older; she was completely surprised when she learned that her character was being removed from the show entirely.
Teri Hatcher - who plays her TV mother Susan - was really upset about this news and has said, "This is a totally producer/network decision that I have nothing to do with, and I guess I can go out on a limb and say I don't support."
Says Marc Cherry, the show's creator, "We'll have her back at some point. Maybe when she's older, who knows? She might get married and become a desperate housewife on the Lane."
But for now...will you guys miss Julie or do you think her story has played out??

I don't think that the writers took full advantage of her character - there was so much she could have been doing - but, maybe some time away from the show will give the writer's enough time to think of some juicy storylines to warrant bringing her character back to the Lane.
It's hard to say whether her absence will be felt in the upcoming season - with all of the characters being older and many being recast... I dunno - I'll miss having her character around.
Nah, it'd be a mistake to ban her from Wisteria Lane. I like the contrast of her being the wise and thoughtful daughter against the adorable childish mother that Susan is. Without Julie, Susan just isn't whole.
I say that having her not around is a good thing. She kind of bores me.
i agree with RYUDARKWOOD susan isnt whole without julie plus who will she confide in when julies gone.
I cant believe that she is leaving. She is such a good character in 'Desperate Housewives' and like you said, Susan isn't whole without Julie.
I am quite upset about this, and i think they are making a large mistake by kicking her off the show. The sooner they realise this the better.
shes one of my favorite characters and im going to be totally crushed .. i think this is a total mistake.. i dont support this decision at all..
ohhhh she is leaving...those bloody producers!!! but they did seem to run out of ideas for her character or maybe they are trying to save money for next season....who knows...
I don't think her leaving will leave anything obvious on the series, I mean, what's she doing in the show anyway? There's no stories about her there.
She doesn't really bring much to the story anyway. And now maybe Susan won't be such a flake...
I completely agree with hachacha - she doesn't bring much to the show. And maybe Susan will become more independent if Julie leaves.
Think about it though, a lot of the things that susan does are only funny because she plays the unresposible one and Julie plays the responsible one instead. Susan just wont be the same without julie. And even though julie isnt my favorite and she doesnt have a main role, she still has a very important one.
Julie is my favorite character on the show. I love her so much and she completes Susan. Without Julie Susan's character isn't as exciting and fun. Susan has always had Julie from day one and it will be a much worse show without her. Andrea Bowen is also a wonderful actress. My other favorite characters are ruined to. Gabrielle Solis is now fat and has kids, which will ruin her character, Mike and Susan split up, which is sad because they are so perfect for each other, and annoying selfish Edie is coming back to Wisteria Lane with a new husband. This show's ratings are going to drop so fast. The show used to be good, but now it's going to be terrible. They are making a HUGE mistake with this 5 year jump and getting rid of Julie Mayer.
