Create Your Summer TV To-Watch List!
As much as I love watching TV, at times I can find it overwhelming, because there are just not enough hours during each day to watch all of the TV that I would like to see (assuming I want to sleep, that is).
Thus, one thing I actually love about the general lack of quality programming to watch during the summer (with a few exceptions, of course) is the opportunity it gives me to catch up on shows I have fallen behind on or to begin watching shows that I have been meaning to watch, but just haven't found the time to yet.
Each summer, I create a list of shows that I am going to plow through (that I have not yet seen). Last summer this included Friday Night Lights, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Dexter, to name a few - all of which were superb.
My list for this summer (so far) includes Mad Men, The Tudors and Bones. I have heard great things about all of these shows; the time to watch them has just escaped me during the year.
I challenge each of you to create your own list of shows to watch over the summer in the comments section below! Perhaps you'll give some other SideReel users some ideas who are looking for a new show to discover...

Yea my summer is wide open. I think I'll check out the The Tudors, Weeds, and rewatch Heroes (September is too far away!). Maybe I'll discover a new favorite along the way.
Oh and I love It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That show is hilarious...looking forward to the new season.
That's such a good idea... i usually start watching a new show once one of my fave shows has aired its season finale and that's how i started instant star, life is wild, one tree hill, men in trees and greek! Now i'm hoping to catch up with all the seasons of bones, degrassi - the next generation, burn notice and hopefully other shows!
This is a great idea ... but i have seen all of my favourite shows so i am going to start to wathc some new ones
1 greys anatomy
2 desperate housewives
3 tudors
i have never watched any of these shows so i am going to start from the beginning in every show !!!
i so can't wait
I need to catch up on greek, and I wanna watch 30 rock, everybody says it's amazing so...
this summer im mainly looking forward to the new season of prison break and kyle xy and hopefully look for some new show to watch...x
I can highly recommend to watch FIREFLY if you havent already.
Its only 14 episodes (sad enough). For me the best tv series Ive ever seen. It has humour, an incredible Cast, witty dialoges and great stories. You think Sci-Fi without aliens but with horses and pistols doesnt work - wait til you have seen FIREFLY. Its a masterpiece.
Besides that 30 Rock (Comedy), Friday Night Lights (Drama), Extras (Comedy/UK Series), The Tudors (Drama), Dexter (Drama), The Fixer (Drama/UK miniseries) and Dirt (cynical Drama) are also unique and special.
Personally Im looking forward to Whedons Dollhouse first and Pushing Daisies second season.
Enjoy your summer, we in Europe are all looking forward to the European Football Championship, only 2 more days, cant wait ;)))
Cheers Beate, Berlin, Germany
I already do this, too. I worked through all of One Tree Hill last summer, but that was before I had sidereel! This summer, I'm going through a fantasy phase (I'm a hardcore Buffy fanatic), so I am checking out Supernatural, Chuck, and Reaper. I also watched the first 2 seasons of The IT Crowd, which is hilarious!
I decided to do start that this summer too. I just finished watching all of Bones (it's amazing by the way, I recommend it). I'm also planning on starting Veronica Mars (which I'd always wanted to see but never got the channel), maybe Grey's Anatomy, and maybe Heroes. I might even start some one-season shows like Journeyman and Life. Also catching up on The Tudors. As you can tell I have basically nothing to do this summer...
I added a bunch of shows/movies to my favorites in order to watch this summer. It's a huge list and I'm not sure if I'll get through it all, but I'll try.
My list is "30 Rock," "Arrested Development," "Bones," "CSI," "Cowboy Bebop," "Death Note," "Grey's Anatomy," "Psych," and "Reaper." I've tried a few of them before but couldn't get through them. No doubt I'll have a few more to add to my list in the coming weeks.
Thanks for some great ideas. I hope to be finishing Andromeda, catch up on Bones and House, catch the last season (?) of Deadwood. Do others in CA have the same problem as me? Youku is usually blocked for this region (maybe the writers block) and outside of tudou..vx = stage 56 and it is closed, vid - leads me to join other programs, tudou works good if I know the Chinese word for the part 2's.
Oops! I was looking to read more of the into message and hit "report this" before I realized it.....my bad. Yes, I am a rookie, can't you tell.
Thanks again for the great show ideas, hope I can find "Rescue Me"... ;p
haha yep definitely do this every summer! theres always too many to watch. currently my list includes:
-bones (somehow i missed all of season 2)
-gossip girl
-reaper
-weeds
-breaking bad
also i have this past season of Lost and the Riches awaiting me on my dvr- oh boy
and i HIGHLY recommend Veronica Mars and 30 rock to anyone looking for new comedies
I actually have a TV watching schedule.
