Firefly & Serenity Fans Rally

I've only recently joined the Firefly following, so I can certainly understand how these fans have kept their Firefly and Serenity flames burning!

While years later there's no hope for Firefly resurrection, that doesn't mean the love has to stop for the show and the movie that came of it.

Read about the current Portland Serenity film screenings via fan rallying!

I soooooo Wish they could make a Serenity 2. In Fact, this series/movie was so good, after I finished wacthing it I wished I had never heard of it. Then I wouldn't know what I was missing, And wouldn't have to dismiss how much even better this show could've gotten (which seems impossible, I know!)

I have three words. Let. It. Go. Seriously. (That last one doesn't count).

I too am a new initiate to the greatness of Firefly. Sort of. I was excited about its debut on TV but found I was unable to get into the groove on a weekly basis. It wasn't until the SciFi Channel ran a marathon to hearken the release of Serenity, allowing me to consume the entire epic saga at once, that I was hooked. I then held some hope that the movie would lead to the series return but with the passing years that dream faded.

Now I consider that dream more of a nightmare. Do we really want it back? Can't we just let it die with dignity? Think about it. George Lucas and his fans couldn't let Star Wars go and look what happened. What about Star Trek? While the contributions to TV have been mostly good the franchise hasn't produced a truly great movie since The Wrath of Khan. In fact, rebelling against the cliches of these two old warhorses was one of Firefly's strongest assets.

If you love the show by all means shout about it. Let the world know and especially let Hollywood know. However, you should be hoping that writers, directors, and producers are inspired to create other great TV shows and films rather than begging for a rehash of this one.

I am reluctantly forced to agree with OGRastamon. Once the writing was on the wall, they did make a last effort to resolve the storyline before letting it fade into oblivion. That effort was called "Serenity", and although they didn't wrap up every single dangling story thread, they did good by it. To attempt to resurrect it now would result in a continuity nightmare. Remember how Star Trek lost track of its multiple story threads with Next Gen, DS9, Voyager, and the Next Gen movies? (To say nothing of the farce that was "Enterprise.") After awhile they quit trying. And people quit watching.

    Because it was crap.

You don't want that to happen to Firefly, do you?
