TV ratings: 'Once Upon a Time' holds up well Sunday, Eagles-Cowboys leads night

The new drama fell a little in total viewers from its premiere but matched its solid adults 18-49 rating. The news wasn't as good for "Allen Gregory": FOX's new animated series debuted to somewhat soft ratings, despite a better-than-usual "Simpsons" lead-in.NBC averaged 16.8 million viewers and a 10.1 rating/16 share in households to lead Sunday night, beating out the 14.5 million viewers and 9.1/14 for CBS. FOX trailed with 5.6 million viewers and a 3.2/5.NBC dominated the adults 18-49 demographic with a 6.7 rating, finishing three points ahead of No. 2 CBS (3.7). 'Allen Gregory' Falls Madly In Love With ... His Principal? (VIDEO)

It's pretty rare for an animated series to be so clear in its vision with the very first episode, but 'Allen Gregory' (Sun., 8:30PM ET on FOX) seems to know exactly what it's going to be about. It has a crisp look, well defined characters and a lead who's completely unlikable but utterly fascinating. Voiced by Jonah Hill, Allen Gregory is more than just another genius grade schooler. He's arrogant, socially clueless and way more confident than he should be. And he's apparently into much, much, much older women. When he first lays eyes on his principal -- and the first thing he sees is her behind -- he's immediately whisked off into a rather disturbing fantasy, to say the least, of the two of them jet-setting together on a romantic getaway. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/10/31/allen-gregory-falls-madly-in-love-with-principal-video/

Video: A Few Minutes With... "Allen Gregory" Co-Stars Nat Faxon & French Stewart

Part two of two from our visit with the cast of the FOX series. With FOX having just renewed the long-running animated series "The Simpsons" through its 25th season, the network can only hope they see the same amount of success from its latest cartoon offering, "Allen Gregory," which bows this Sunday. In the series, created by actor Jonah Hill, Andrew Mogel and Jarrod Paul, Allen Gregory (voiced by Hill) is a seven-year-old boy, precocious beyond his years and, due to the recession, finds himself having to acclimate to (gasp!) public elementary school. With his gay Dads, Richard (French Stewart) and Jeremy (Nat Faxon), helping in the transition, Allen will do everything possible to make his new world work on his own terms. 'Allen Gregory': All style, no substance

He's seven, he drinks pinot and he knows too much. He's "Allen Gregory." But is he worth watching? The new Fox animated series centers on a precocious and pretentious tot named Allen Gregory DeLongpre voiced by the show's producer, Jonah Hill. He lives in a fancy Manhattan (or a reasonable facsimile) penthouse with his father Richard (voiced by French Stewart), Richard's life partner/boy toy Jeremy (Nat Faxon) and his adopted Cambodian sister Julie (Joy Osmanski). In the pilot, due to yet unexplained financial difficulties, Jeremy needs to find a job, meaning his homeschooling of Allen Gregory ends. As a result, Allen must now attend public school. This proves difficult for the ascot-wearing tyke who is much better suited for a high-end boarding school. It is at elementary school that Allen Gregory encounters the typical slate of characters: the bully, the sidekick and the difficult authority figures. His continued disdain for his teachers and principal generates a storyline of... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/10/allen-gregory-all-style-no-substance.html

'Allen Gregory' video preview: Jonah Hill's new FOX comedy fits right in

While child genius Allen Gregory may not fit in with the kids at his elementary school, "Allen Gregory" will slide seamlessly into place among the rest of FOX's animated comedy offerings. From Jonah Hill, of Judd Apatow fame, the preview delivers on the "smart, subversive tone" promised by FOX entertainment President Kevin Reilly. Allen, voiced by Hill, is described as "the most pretentious 7-year-old of our time." Condescending to adults and pouring pinot at lunch, he lives up to the tagline. "I've traveled the world, folks," he says. "I've written genre-shattering novels, mediated peace talks, you all know my resume. But I'm about to embark on the biggest challenge of my life. Attending elementary school."In addition to Hill, the voice talents on the show include Nat Faxon, French Stewart, Joy Osmanski, Leslie Mann, and Will Forte, among others.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/allen-gregory-video-preview-jonah-hills-new-fox-comedy-fits-right-in.html

FOX's 2011-2012 comedy first impressions: Familiar premises and faces draw laughs

In choosing its comedies for the 2011-2012 season, FOX didn't venture too far from the familiar. The network made a clear effort to stick to what's been working for them thus far, choosing shows with reliable themes and actors with proven staying power. Zap2it was on the scene at the 2011 Upfront Presentation in New York on May 16 to get a first look at the new comedy line-up. Here are our first impressions."I Hate My Teenage Daughter"This season, FOX met success with "Raising Hope," a comedy about hilariously bad parenting -- and they're sticking to it with "I Hate My Teenage Daughter." "That's a title, not a statement," jokes FOX entertainment president Kevin Reilly. Don't worry... the show looks to be much funnier than he is. For the coveted post-"X-Factor" Wednesday spot, Reilly says that they sought out a sitcom with a "relatable hook, with a strong female appeal at its core, and a... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/foxs-2011-2012-comedy-first-impressions-familiar-premises-and-faces-draw-laughs.html
