So far this season of Black Sails has been nothing short of stellar. Michael Bay has been at his best assembling an incredible cast. And we can’t wait for tonight. We hear that Eleanor is told a few home truths by straight talking Mrs. Hudson. Blackbeard and Vane are going head to head. Capt. Flint is trying to fight a storm while running away from a ship! Black Sails Pirates Not Terrorists Of Their Day, Insists Blackbeard (aka Ray Stevenson) TCA

Kicking off a TCA Q&A for Season 3 of Starz Treasure Island prequel Black Sails , one TV critic wondered if the shows pirates were the terrorists of their day. I take umbrage with that statement, Ray Stevenson (who plays Blackbeard) said, pointing out that European nations at the time were raping and pillaging and stealing from whole cultures in South AmericaThey were decimating whole cultures under some sort of righteousness.   Read More... http://deadline.com/2016/01/black-sails-pirates-not-terrorists-of-their-day-ray-stevenson-tca-1201678445/

Why Full-Frontal Male Nudity Was All Over TV in 2015

This summer, Kevin Bacon released a mock PSA calling on Hollywoods male actors to free [their] bacon. And by bacon, he clarified, I mean your wiener, your balls, and your butt. It was a gentle ribbing of the fact that show business is still more comfortable asking women to disrobe than men. In 2015, that norm quietly began to budge, though not as wantonly as Bacon recommended. This fall, Chris Zylka and Christopher Eccleston stripped down in different episodes of HBOs The Leftovers. Ben Daniels used his bare penis in an act of aggression on Flesh and Bone . Outlander s Tobias Menzies didnt bother with a modesty pouch. Sense8, Shameless, Togetherness, The Affair , Black Sails , and Penny Dreadful all featured men who bared it all. While there are more instances than ever to point to this year, male nudity has certainly existed in previous decades on premium cable, the only on-air platform where full-frontal is allowed. Shows like HBOs Oz, Boardwalk Empire, Sex and the City, Starz's Spartacus, and Showtimes Weeds have gradually been destigmatizing onscreen male genitalia. Read More...
