Call The Midwife is a drama series adapted for television by Heidi Thomas from Jennifer Worth's best selling memoir, book of the same name. The series is a colourful look at the world of midwifery and family life in 1950's East End London. Jenny joins an eccentric community of nursing nuns having just qualified.

As Chummy and Peter prepare to become parents, Fred has a visit from his daughter Dolly, who also has a baby on the way. Jimmy reappears, accompanied by his handsome colleague Alec, having been tasked by the council to survey the buildings in the area. Alec seems keen on Jenny, and an evening out to a jazz club sees romance blossom. Chummy goes into labour, but there is bad news for the midwives as Nonnatus House is earmarked for demolition.
