'Girls' Season 2 Premieres Down Slightly From Series Debut

Fresh off of its Golden Globes wins, Lena Dunham's HBO comedy pulls 866,000 viewers -- and "Enlightened" returns with a boost from its previous Monday time slot.

'Girls' Wins Big!

"Girls" won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical at the 2013 award ceremony on Sunday, January 13. The other nominees included "The Big Bang Theory," "Episodes," "Modern Family," and "Smash." The controversial series was nominated for its first season on HBO, but the second season of " Girls " premiered on the same night of the Golden Globes were handed out. "Girls" creator, executive producer, writer, director and star Lena Dunham also won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Series . Dunham spoke on behalf of the "Girls" cast and said her co-stars "have shown me the meaning of bravery and nakedness, both emotional and physical. "I love being in a room with people who love movies and television so much," she continued. "It took a village to raise this very demented child and I hope that everyone who was involved feels thanked every single day ... Making this show and the response to it has been the most validating thing that I've ever felt; it's made me feel so much less alone in this world. I can't define it, thank you." Dunham also thanked Chad Lowe, whose wife, Hilary Swank, famously forget to thank him. Lowe tweeted earlier in the night after Dunham won: The Golden Globes 2013 crowned its winners on January 13 on NBC from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. The queens of TV comedy, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, hosted the ceremony, but neither of their shows -- "30 Rock" and "Parks and Recreation" respectively -- was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2013 Golden Globes .

'Girls' Take Manhattan At Red-Carpet Premiere

The " Girls " are back in town! HBO's hit series following four 20-something friends almost getting it kind of together returns Sunday, and stars Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet and Jemima Kirke celebrated the premiere last night at New York University's Skirball Center. All decked in black (clever coordination or just the trappings of being a New Yorker, we'll never know), the starlets posed prettily for paps before screening the second-season opener.

Girls Premiere: Lena Dunham Adopts Dog, Talks Mesh Tank Tops

At last night's season two premiere of Girls , Lena Dunham announced that she'd just adopted a dog. "He's just twelve pounds of bliss. His name is Lambie," she said. Wearing a strapless black jumpsuit, she denied having any personal experiences with a mesh shirt, but she could still relate to Hannah's night out in episode three. "I was imagining that a mesh tank top would be the worst thing to be stuck out in the world wearing for an extended period of time," she explained. "I've definitely had Halloweens where I was stuck in a bathing suit and rainboots and had to wear that for eight hours." Nearby, her  Girls  co-star Alex Karpovsky reminisced about all the times he's lost his clothes during a bender, as Dunham's character does this season. "I lose shit a lot when I drink," he said. "My favorite lavender button-up — I lost that when my friend Todd Rohal made this film,  Catechism Cataclysm , and I went to the premiere and I got  wasted.  I fell asleep on some cardboard outside, and I got really hot and cold, and so I took it off and I left it on the sidewalk. I went the next day to find it, and it was gone." He's now started taking precautions, though. "I take iPhone pictures of my clothes, so if I want to reorder them, I know how to do it. It's very basic. I'm learning. I'm slowly growing up."
