'Mobbed': Howie Flips The Mob On Art

It was an emotional reunion in the works on " Mobbed " (Wed., 9 p.m. EST on Fox) when 37-year old Art asked Howie Mandel and his team to help him meet his father for the first time. But Mandel decided to try and do things a little differently. Especially as Art not only had never met his father, he had no idea where he was or how to find him. So the show hired a private investigator and tracked down Art's father James in Indiana. There, Howie surprised him at the crack of dawn with a camera crew at his front door. Mandel's idea was to flip the mob. Art wanted to mob his father and introduce himself. Mandel suggested that maybe they mob Art instead and surprise him with his father. With James on board, it was time to break Art's heart before the big reveal. So Howie invited him to a bowling alley to break the news to him that he hadn't made the show. He then left Art there for a moment, faking a phone call, so the mob could erupt around him. Art's face immediately lit up as he realized what was happening, and what was likely about to happen. The men met for the first time surrounded by a thousand strangers, but their embrace was as if they'd been holding back those emotions for almost four decades. James had admitted to Howie earlier that it was more than two decades before he even knew he had a son. "Mobbed" has two more episodes in its season order from Fox, but they've not been scheduled as of yet. Neglectful Father Asks for Forgiveness From Daughter on 'Mobbed' (VIDEO)

Howie Mandel returned for another installment of 'Mobbed' (Wed., 9PM ET on FOX) for the holiday. But while the last round saw him helping a reluctant groom propose to his girlfriend, this one tackled a much more somber and heavy relationship situation. The mob was orchestrated by an estranged father who'd recently separated from his wife, leaving his teen daughter as well. He then proceeded to miss her birthday and prom and looks like he basically checked out of her life completely for a while.

Howie Mandel Previews the Return of MOBBED

MOBBED is back! The show was first ordered as a one-off special (which aired back in March), where a man used a flash mob series to propose to his girlfriend — and then get married on the spot. After the success of the debut episode, Fox ordered eight additional installments of MOBBED, the first of [...]

Video: A Few Minutes With... "Mobbed" Host Howie Mandel

FOX's flash mob series returns with an all-new special tonight at 9:00/8:00c. To hear host Howie Mandel tell it, the new series "Mobbed" is a combination of "Punk'd" with "Glee" as flash mobs of dancers are used to shock unsuspecting people who have been set up by friends and loved ones with surprises like marriage proposals or bringing together those who have been apart for a long period of time. The novel concept made it to a one-time special this spring and garnered strong enough ratings that eight more episodes are now coming to FOX beginning tonight. In a video chat with our Jim Halterman at this fall's FOX junket, Mandel talked about the genesis of the show as well as whether things always turn out good or sometimes not so good for those people who have been "Mobbed." Mobbed Dances Its Way to an 8 Episode Order

Last night, Fox aired Mobbed , a hidden camera show that featured Deal or No Deal host Howie Mandel helping people set up elaborate flash mobs for their family and friends, and today, Fox picked up Mobbed for 8 episodes. According to Deadline, Mobbed had the largest post- Idol retention and audience in two years. It's not specified where Mobbed would be airing on the schedule or when it would be premiering, so this could replace some of their repeats during the summer or it could be some insurance just in case something in fall doesn't premiere that well. My only hope is that the show is used sparingly because cheap reality shows that rate well are too often drove into the ground by overscheduling. If Fox can keep from overdoing it and the show can find ways to fiddle with its concept to keep it fresh, this could be a pretty nice gain for the network. Read More...

The Fastest Engagement in History on 'Mobbed' Special (VIDEO)

Flash mobs have become a thing of pop culture, often getting huge hits on the Internet. You just never know when one might break out around you, with people singing and/or dancing. But on Howie Mandel's 'Mobbed' (Thu., 9PM on FOX) special, they took the premise to a whole new level. Mostly by eliminating the spontaneous "flash" part of the concept. Instead, these were intricately choreographed and planned mob moments, but they were no less spectacular and epic in their execution. Take the woman who was stunned with a mob erupted around her, complete with acrobatics, singing and dance. She was completely stunned, and even more when a reveal showed her boyfriend. He proposed on the spot and then stunned her again after she agreed.
