ABC premiered a new police procedural Monday night (May 20) in "Motive," a series that purports to focus on the whys of a crime moreso than the whos, since the show will reveal to the audience at the top of every hour the identities of both the victim and the killer. In the premiere episode, high school science teacher Mr. Martin (Joe McIntyre) is killed by his student, Tom (Tyler Johnston), seemingly as a "creeping" expedition gone wrong. Except that's not it at all -- Mr. Martin found out about Tom's private, dark thoughts and Tom couldn't bear the thought of no longer being invisible. When he broke into Mr. Martin's house to get his school bag back, he ended up bludgeoning Martin to death with a trophy. Did it hook you? If not, we will ask that you tune back in Thursday, May 23, when the show moves to its regular timeslot of Thursday... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/05/motive-premiere-are-you-intrigued-by-the-whys-and-wherefores.html

You've got to love it when people are willing to mix it up a little. Let's face it; the traditional cop show has felt tired for years. Most are so formulaic that the crimes almost solve themselves. But with "Motive," a new series premiering Monday, May 20, on ABC, the formula has been set on its ear. Creator and executive producer Daniel Cerone ("The Mentalist," "Dexter"), likes to say that most cop shows tend to be whodunits, while "Motive," as the name suggests, tends to be more of a whydunit. And with Kristin Lehman ("The Killing") starring as Detective Angie Flynn, it's a mustwatchit."I always wanted to create a series where you reveal the killer in the tease -- hearkening back to 'Columbo,' which is considered the granddaddy of all detectives, and basically the whole first act was showing the kill," Cerone says. "I've always been fascinated with that model. But I was always reluctant to pitch it... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/05/motives-kristin-lehman-on-nkotb-joey-mcintyres-untimely-tv-demise-please-dont-go-girl.html
