Hey shippers! Here is the "New Girl" episode you've been waiting for -- Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) are finally going out for an evening together. But of course there are obstacles in the way of the pair's "First Date."The episode begins in a perfectly normal fashion, with Winston (Lamorne Morris) trying to find a phone charger.Naturally, this brings up issues of attraction and dating for Jess and Nick.Does going on a date with Jess require a hat fitting? That may indeed be the case when Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is involved.Nick cleans up nice...You know who doesn't clean up so nicely? That would be Outside Dave (guest star Steve Agee), who is strangely inside. Is it really necessary for Jess and Nick to take notes during their date?Even if the date was going well (notes or no notes), there is a bit of a wrinkle when Jess' ex Russell (Dermot Mulroney) appears.Russell seems... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/04/new-girl-photos-russell-interrupts-when-nick-and-jess-go-on-their-first-date.html

Taylor Swift, possibly the singer who best embodies the adorkable ethos of in her public persona, will guest-star in the "New Girl" Season 2 finale.Swift will arrive just in time to be a guest at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (guest star Satya Bhabha), EW.com reports. Going by the name of Elaine, all we know is that Swift's character will be an important guest at the ceremony. Could we be about to meet another of Cece's model friends? Is Elaine an old friend of Cece and Jess (Zooey Deschanel)? Is it possible that Elaine is a girl from Shivrang's past, much like Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is part of Cece's romantic history? Wouldn't that last theory be fun?We won't find out for sure until May 14, when the season finale airs. This is a rare acting role for the hit country-pop singer. Swift provided the voice of Audrey in the animated film, "The... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/taylor-swift-will-guest-star-on-the-new-girl-season-2-finale.html
It's a good comedy that can take the most serious of subjects -- death -- and produce an episode that's as funny as it is heartfelt. "New Girl" did just that with "Chicago," an episode almost entirely devoted to the death and funeral of Nick's father. The story felt real. The complicated emotions weren't ignored. And the laughs all came from places that felt true. You can laugh in the face of death, but the tears need to be there too.Relative maturityIn terms of normal adult standards of maturity, Nick (Jake Johnson) is the most immature of the roommates on "New Girl." He has no particular ambitions, works in a bar and only barely knows how to take care of himself. But as we learn in "Chicago," maturity is a relative concept -- as in, what is immature among your peers counts as mature with your relatives. Nick is, as it turns out, the mature... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/new-girl-death-is-funny-and-kind-of-amazing-in-chicago.html

Sorry, shippers of every other romance on television -- the strange love between Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) on "New Girl" is almost definitely funnier, cooler, sweeter and just plain better than whoever you like. Here are 35 animated GIFs to make the case. The Jess-Nick relationship saw its earliest start in the unexpected chemistry exhibited by Deschanel and Johnson as early as the pilot episode. While both characters ignored their growing attraction for all of the first season and most of the second, the passion would not be ignored. Thank goodness. The GIFs that follow chronicle the relationship throughout the two seasons of "New Girl." If you can look at them all and not agree that these two are essentially perfect in every way... Well, you may not have a heart in that case. Again, sorry.First of all, it is important to realize that this is an unusual, weird relationship.Jess and Nick... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/new-girl-35-animated-gifs-to-celebrate-jess-and-nick-tvs-best-romance.html

The upcoming episode of "New Girl" starts in a somber place. Nick's con-artist father has died. The four roommates thus go visit Nick's hometown for the funeral in "Chicago." Naturally, this means that Jess has to dress up like Elvis Presley. That's just a given, right? It probably is a given that something like this would happen on "New Girl" anyway. When Nick (Jake Johnson) goes home, he has to deal with his brother and his cousin (guest stars Nick Kroll and Bill Burr). There's a reason he doesn't hang out with them so much. That's probably why the roommates need to come for support. At least Nick gets a warm welcome from his mother (guest star Margo Martindale). She seems like a nice, kind woman who loves her boy very much.Things are a little less comfortable for Jess (Zooey Deschanel).Of course, going to a funeral isn't going to relieve any tension. It seems to be a particularly trying... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/03/new-girl-photos-jess-goes-as-elvis-presley-to-a-funeral-in-chicago.html
