'Parks and Recreation': Real labor union endorses Leslie Knope

NBC's "Parks and Recreation" may be off until April 19, but fictional Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) and her fictional candidacy for Pawnee City Council are still top of mind for the very real national labor union American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO (AFSCME). Friday (March 9) the public sector union endorsed Knope today in what the group calls "a blatant attempt to draft Amy Poehler to speak at the union's biennial convention in June."Gerald W. McEntee, president of AFSCME, which represents more than 250,000 parks and recreation workers, said on the union's website: "We proudly endorse Leslie Knope for Pawnee City Council. As Super Tuesday drew to a close, the candidate on everyone's mind at Parks and Recreation 's PaleyFest event was Pawnee City Council hopeful Leslie Knope. There are only a few weeks left in the NBC comedy's fictional campaign, but the race could go either way. Twoendings were shot for the season finale — one in which Mouse Rat performs "Catch Your Dream" and the other in which they sing "Screw Your Dream" (you get the idea). "For a long time, we didn't know what it was going to be," star and producer Amy Poehler told at Tuesday's event, which featured a panel moderated by TV Guide Magazine 's Michael Schneider.
