The set pieces are so good. If thats your thing you are going to love this. The story runs fast and loose and for so many great actors i feel like they are just reading lines and going through the motions. Frankenstein's monster is the best in the show, soulful acting where for the first time i truly felt sorry for the monster and thats why i kept coming back. Frankenstein's monster is the best in the show, soulful acting where for the first time i truly felt sorry for the monster and thats why i kept coming back. I love Eva Green but this show took a good actress and an attractive young lady and made her look like Skeltor with an awful story line and removed any amount of sexuality from her awkward and off putting " romantic " scenes.

Not an average tv series. If you are going to watch it take the time for it. Get to know the intriguing characters. Submerge yourself in the plot. It's totally worth it.

One of the most fascinating shows of the year. This period drama expertly blends classic monsters without seeming too corny, but keeps enough of it for all the fun. The characters are frighteningly detailed with eerie backgrounds which are only made even better with the amazingly talented cast. Eva Green is definitely the one to watch and her seance scene was Emmy-worthy.

Well now a new supernatural/horror show that doesn't pander to teenage girls and the terminally brain dead? I'm all for it. Love Penny Dreadful. The casting is great (A real surprise seeing Josh Hartnett playing such a memorable character), the writing is genius and the sets are amazing even the name of the show is fantastic (Penny Dreadful's of course being a magazine that came with a newspaper in the 1830's - 1850's and unless I am... I figuratively cannot wait for the next season.

Intriguing, but sometimes it works too hard to keep the gore level high.

The show takes classic creatures from Victorian to Edwardian period horror and brings them together with *lots* of sex and graphic gore, mixed in with some very strange and not at all period cosmology. Worth watching, but not amazing.

Awesome show, can't wait for the new season! Best cast i have seen in years, story line a bit blurry but i think it will get a lot better in season 2. Hope they don't disappoint!

If you were sad to see Jonathan Rhys-Meyers' "Dracula" come to a premature end, this may be the show to fill that void. A dark, supernatural, period piece, staring Eva Green, whose ever-plotting countenance is captivating as always.
