Good News For Greek, But Kyle's Canceled - Featured

ABC Family has announced that they have picked up both Greek and Lincoln Heights for additional seasons.

Pending is the renewal of smash-hit The Secret Life of The American Teenager, though the question is not will the show be picked up, but for how many episodes.

Greek will resume its second season on March 30, after The Secret Life of The American Teenager finishes up its run.

But for the bad news: the current season of Kyle XY will be the show's last. ABC Family has opted not to renew the show, likely due to its declining ratings this season, which premiered earlier this month. Monday nights are a harsh business; there is an awful lot of competition and I guess people just don't have time for our favorite belly-button free genius anymore...

And it's too bad because I actually enjoy Kyle XY, though if I had to choose between Kyle and the superb Greek, I am much happier that Greek will be sticking around (Lincoln Heights is not one that I watch, but it seems decent too).

So now that you know that Kyle will be ending at the end of this season, how would you like things to wrap up?

ABC has also picked up pilots for 3 new series, which you can read more about in the Hollywood Reporter. One is called Perfect 10 and centers around the competitive world of gymnastics, which I sincerely hope makes it to air, as I will watch just about anything focusing on gymnastics, no matter how bad it may be...

ugh, I love Kyle XY. such a good show. I personally don't think that it being on mondays is its real problem. The fact that ABC did not start the third season did not start in the summer like the previous two seasons had. USA network does the same thing with monk and psych, granted the USA shows are on friday so its not exactly the same, but putting close to a year and a half between seasons is just asking for trouble.

It seems to me that our television networks are being run by monkeys. They place GOOD shows on highly competative nights, and then, when they can't take the heat, they cut them instead of moving them to a less compacted night. Monday night is probably the WORST night competative-wise for television. On Mondays, you have Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, How I met Your Mother, Secret Life of the American Teenager, and now Medium is returning to also be on Monday nights. It's almost as if all the networks got together and decided, Ok, lets all pick one night and put all our best shows on that night; skrew the rest of the week!
This is simply rediculous. First Pushing Daisies gets the boot because it can't compete on Wednesday against Dancing with the Stars or some other reality crap, and now Kyle XY because it lost fanbase in the almost complete YEAR in between seasons. I think that our political system is not the only thing in need of change this year...

kyle xy had an excellent start and a lot of potential, but you cant blame the bad ratings entirely on the competition. the story just ended, and was replaced with boring love triangles and petty teen angst. amanda this and amanda that. there was an entire episode about a missing $120. i mean, that shit would not fly on any night. the pace was much too slow, not to mention kyle's boring, unchanging character and monotonous drone.in my opinion it was the writing that really killed the show.

asdfasdfasdf, your name confuses me but I agree.
That episode was utterly useless, it's like the writers wanted a couple days off so they set that script up in a few hours.
In all honesty I think they were trying to show Kyle as a teenager and not a sentient machine, by giving him a problem that could happen to any teenager, forcing people to relate. My opinion: backfire.

I absolutely agree with "asdfasdfasdf ". I loved the beginning of the show, when you saw the world through kyle's eyes. I often laughed because he was so innocent and naive in some ways, and I loved how he described the world, it made me think and reevaluate some things that I never thought about, like what is time and why is it so important to us.But the second season totally lost that charme and somehow the show turned into one of those completely ordinary teenager-problems-shows. And that whole story with Latnok doesn't seem to have a point at all.I think there was a lot of potential but they completely messed it up.

What is with this, canceling Kyle XY! abc family, your so stupid. forget all the other crap you have on your network. I'M not in your 18-26 age. I'm over 50 and just love this show. Keep Kyle Xy ,move it to another time and day but don't do what you did by waiting way into Jan.to air the first episode, after not being on for a long time. putting it on the same time as other top shows with high ratings.I know I'm giving it my all to save this show KYLE XY.the forth episode has started to get interesting again

That makes me want to slap them...... Of course the show's ratings have gone down, they wait like a year and a half to release new episodes, so anyone who was a fan may not remember what the heck was going on, and anyone just starting to watch is not going to catch on very easily. So the first few episodes were a bit uninteresting compared to previous seasons, but they somehow need to set up a new plotline, and that takes to set up which I imagine something interesting is going to pick up soon here. What a waste it was waiting for the new season when they're just going to cancel the show with no new story development.

I think the show as a lot of potential to do very well, they just take waaay too long to get to the point in so many different things....like the whole thing with this new guy and the kidnapping of amanda and kyle..they need to get to the point and may they'll be able to captivate people again...I love the show all the same, it'd be nice to have it stay on.

i watch greek and secret life as well,, out of the three shows, i find secret life most expendable...it's just plain boring. teenage pregnancy, super love triangles, middle school.. isn't that worst?

Honestly... I like(d) kyle xy. The problem is matt dallas is kind of a nancy, there are no real hot chicks in the show (esp. not amanda, the main love interest), and the sci-fi demographic, myself included, would probably rather watch heroes at the same time/night, and play catch-up online for kyle xy. I think the only times ive ever watched a live episode is if heroes was MIA. despite the unbearable kyle/amanda sage, its still a pretty good show... and josh totally saves it with his quirky humor and sarcastic remarks.

I feel that the best way to work the show would be to revamp it as a sort of superhero coming of age story. We have all seen that kyle can do amazing things such as levitation and energy control. If he then started using his powers more as a superhero and not in this boring teenage slop then the show might have a chance. Jessie only need a few pushes to be an anti hero or a villain. Speed up the pace, you can keep the love triangles for the most part, and give kyle a superhero sort of feel. Latnock is supposed to be this beyond cutting edge scientific think tank, so why cant they have made other super beings that could come in. It has been well established that kyle is psychologically human and is progressing along in his development at a normal pace. So those storylines can be dropped for the most part. It need to start to lean in a more action sci-fi story arc then this teenage drama. That with a tues time slot (there is nothing good on tues) could save the show. Oh and an agressive advertising campaign to let viewers know that it is changing nights.

aww no!i mean i have mixed feelings about this because i love kyle xy but it can get kinda confusing, i think that the plot is pretty complex and not to mention they went one 1 year gap that just made me forget everything so idk i love kylexy but i like greek & the secret life more.
