Nash Bridges and Miami Vice star Don Johnson is in negotiations for the lead role on ABC's sitcom pilot, Southern Discomfort, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The comedy centers on tough conservative Texan (Johnson) whose world is turned upside down when his kids move back home. Johnson would star opposite Mary Steenburgen, who will play the wife and mother.
Steven Talley (Summerland) has also been cast to play the eldest son, who throws away a baseball scholarship to pursue a writing career.
Johnson most recently appeared in the Kristen Bell film When in Rome.
