Parks and Recreation: "Galentine's Day" Review Season 2, Episode 16

We knew all knew that Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Justin (Justin Theroux) weren't meant to last. It's an NBC comedy and certainly part of the humor of Parks and Recreation going forward will be pairing Leslie up with a slew of suitors. Justin was a pretty good catch though (and so was Officer Dave for that matter) so it's kind of refreshing to find out that Leslie's relationships might end with whimpers and not bangs. They'll end for, well, the same reasons why real people's relationships might end, which a nice unexpected curveball for a series like Parks. It's worth mentioning that this series has done a fantastic job of layering its previously one-dimensional characters with compassion, where its older brother series, The Office, has sort of exhausted us with how much all of its characters are eccentric, ignorant jerks. "Galentine's Day" was great, but it also offered us a few head-scratching character moments which felt good, but which also played out a bit too jarringly real for a show like this.
