When you read a really good book, it gets harder and harder to turn the pages as you get closer to the end. I've been known to read a final page five times, and close the book, unable to talk to anyone, lest the spell wear off. The Pillars of the Earth was one of those books. I had to read it a number of times before I could let it go. You all know how much I've enjoyed the series, despite a critique of the CGI here and there. I was expecting the end of the eight part miniseries to hold me in thrall the same way. The two part finale aired on Friday, and though I spent a bit of time in silence, digesting it all, I wasn't moved in quite the same way as I was by the end of Ken Follett's novel.
