'Dollhouse' Benched in November - Featured

Fresh from the oven news, "Dollhouse" may disappear from the screen next month. In its exclusive report, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly said that sources are confirming the benching of the Joss Whedon-created show in November.

The series starring Eliza Dushku will be back for December sweeps and Fox will air back-to-back episodes on Friday nights. This looks like a move made only to allow the show to complete the 13-episode order. There is no word yet on what FOX will air in November in replacement of the show.

Since its debut in midseason, "Dollhouse" has not been exactly stellar in rating. However, FOX chose it over "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" to get a second season.

Just this week, Joss Whedon talked about "Dollhouse" number when he was announced as a guest director of "Glee". He wrote, "No, this doesn't mean Dollhouse definitely won't get a back nine. Our numbers mean that! But I kid. Okay, we're not exactly saving all the good stuff for 14-22, but nobody's closed the door."

Update: Futon Critic has obtained the confirmation that FOX will scrap all the Fridays line-up after the October 23 episode. Instead, a re-run of "House M.D." two-hour season premiere will sub in on October 30 with additional repeats of "House" and "Bones" taking over for the rest of the month.

"Dollhouse" will only return on December 4, 11, and 18 with back-to-back originals.

Booo, I do not like this move at all. What are they going to put in its place that is going to be any better? Its still Friday night, which is its ultimate problem. What they should be doing here is promoting the heck out of the Dollhouse and try to use November sweeps as a time to gain it more of an audience. Have them do the episodes with Summer Glau during this time which will pull in all of the Terminator Sarah Conner audience back, and really use this time to progress the stroyline forward. The fact that Dollhouse is one of the top DVR shows, should be enough to show fox there is potential there, they just need to do it justice from an executive and marketing standpoint.

Okay, I don't like this move at all. FOX barely promotes the show right now, and I don't see how taking it off the air for a month is going to help matters. Sure, it will be nice to have back-to-back episodes in December, but I would still rather have one episode each week instead of it being gone for a month. But if they want to have the back-to-backs, wouldn't it make more sense to do it in November? People are generally more busy in December with it being close to the holidays, etc. FOX is just really stupid in my opinion. All I can say is they better use November to promote the hell out of the show! I'm still hoping against hope for at least a back nine episode order for the season...

this sucks man, dollhouse is a killer show, and well the people who love it really love it, it is unique and twisted, and the characters are very relateable, don't get me wrong i love Bones and House, but Dollhouse is so different then the typical crime and medical shows. They should just suck it up and keep it for us.
