Lautner is IN for New Moon

Apparently all of the speculation that Taylor Lautner would be replaced in Twilight follow-up New Moon (because he did not look mature enough to play the older, more mature Jacob Black that is meant to appear in the film) was much ado about nothing.

Author Stephanie Meyer has confirmed this on her website with a statement from New Moon director, Chris Weitz:

"I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

The characters in Stephenie's books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I'm looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

very best

Chris Weitz

I imagine this makes many of you very happy...

No I'm not, I don't like him as Jacob Black, not the huky type described in the book. But I'm glad the director changed

well thats dissapointing....hes a child....even if they bulk him up like some rumors say that will with computer shit it stll wont help....the jacob in the novel is a MAN not a boy.....he looks 15 not 25 which is the age that he is supposed to look according to the book......anyhoo i jsut find that they are taking the easy way out with him.....they dont want to go through the trouble of casting someone else for the ppart and probably paying that person more money than they would have to pay taylor

I actually think that it is good thing that they are keeping Taylor for New Moon he is exactly like I pictured Jacob in the books and he'll beef up enough...hopefully not over doing it:S to play the part Great! i'm sure. Since he was already casted as Jacob in twilight i think it would have been rediculous if they had changed the actor throughout the movies wheres the connection in that if the actor is replaced!
