Cancellation Buzz: Can Chuck Be Saved? Even Josh Schwartz Isn't Sure - Featured

After last night's amazingly awesome episode of Chuck, it is secured in my own mind that Chuck is the Bubble Show which I most want to see another season (sorry, Dollhouse). Sadly, it's chances of renewal are still being quoted around 50/50.

Here are some excerpts from a NY Times interview with Chuck creator Josh Schwartz where he speaks about the show's future:

As of this moment, do you know where Chuck stands?

Sitting here today, I do not know. Which is a tricky place to be, emotionally. The last two episodes are certainly the best that we've done, and I feel like the whole season has been building. To feel this coalescing of the inter-Web forces, in support of the show, has been really remarkable.

How are you preparing for what could be Chuck's final episode?

Emotionally, you mean? Therapy.

I meant narratively.

If, in two weeks, that is the last episode of the show to ever air, it will be one of the least satisfying finales of all time. Chris Fedak, the guy who created the show, said people will set their living rooms on fire.

Can these grassroots "Save Chuck" campaigns really mean the difference between renewal and cancellation?

The difference between being a hit show and being an on-the-bubble show is so small now. The metrics have become so narrow that everything does help. If you do have a loyal fan base that really can make a difference. Now, more than ever, that kind of fan support can really have an impact.

A couple years back, Jericho was briefly spared the axe when its fans sent peanuts to CBS. What should Chuck fans send to NBC?

In lieu of peanuts, I would ask our fans to send Nerds. The candy. Not actual nerds that they can find on the street. Don't go to MIT, put them in a box, send that over to Burbank.

So...let's keep the campaign going, SideReel!

Quick reminders on things you can do to help:

-There's the Finale and a Footlong campaign on 4/27 for the Finale.

-You can write something positive about the show on NBC's website here or send Snail Mail (or as Schwartz now suggests, Nerds) to:

Ben Silverman

Co-Chairman

Angela Bromstad

-You can also vote for Chuck in E!Online's Save One Show Campaign.

I really hope Chuck doesn't get cut.
Last nights episode almost felt like a season finale. I mean everything got wrapped up really nicely then we saw Roark coming back. I'm sure that the next episode will be great. Chuck is easily the best show on right now and at least on the internet its got a pretty big following.
I'm still surprised that its so close to being axed with all the fans I see on the internet and the incredible quality that beats anything NBC has. (Hell move it up to the 10PM time slot and I'd still watch it. It would be better than that show they have on it now.)

blazer33x your a D!*K, find something better to do with your time. Loser!
Chuck should stay, easily the best show on TV. I can't believe they are even thinking of axing it, how ridiculous. All the comments speak for themselves. Amazing show, why get rid of something this good..?? It would be the worst decision, and if they did, then they would see the consequences, in losing lots of fans.

I'm sorry but I just don't get the show. The premise just doesn't connect with me maybe I'm not its target audience. Its a typical plot awkward guy becomes involved against his will in super spy world and he falls in love with said girl and must get her using his sweet charm and nerd knowledge. I'm surprised it lasted this long I just feel like they are running out of ideas. I really don't find myself laughing at the show at all. Sorry but I'm watching something else when this is on. Dollhouse is getting interesting though hope they don't cancel it.

I thought that Monday's episode was the finale until I saw the preview for next week's... shows how much I pay attention. I will definitely miss it if it is canceled, but I think it is at a good enough spot that if it does, we won't be left wondering what happened for the years to come. Unless of course next week's episode is really crazy and there is some giant twist.

First if you don't watch the show or care for it then don't comment, negativity doesn't help anyone. There are lots of people around the world who do like and enjoy the show and i am one of them and last episode was amazing.Personally i am going to be suffering if they cancel the show, even if they take the break its gonna be hard. As for the finale i do think some serious twists are on the way and i get the feeling they have set it up as preparing for another season.Come on lets keep Chuck going!

I agree with [almost] everyone here. Chuck is such an amazing show, and even if it doesn't have an outrageous plot (hellsing), the acting is great, the character chemistry is great, and the show is quite entertaining. I make it a point to sit down every Monday and watch this show; and if for some reason I miss it, I am on the computer at the very first moment after it's online to watch it.
As for how I think those in charge of production should handle things if they do get canceled, I would really be distraught if they left things on a cliffhanger. I hate that more than anything with shows. Please, please, please, If you (Chuck) get canceled, please tie off the loose ends enough so that I'm not "lighting my living room on fire" at 9:01!!

I love chuck and if it has to end (which it better not) it better end happily and satisfyingly . But mostly, it just shouldn't be canceled because I LOVE it. :)

Boooooo RachelL, save the Dollhouse! I know you love it really ;-)
Though Chuck is a hugely popular show I find it strange that it is in the situation that it's in. So vote to 'Save Chuck' fellow sidereel users and let the network know how much it means to you.
I will be starting a 'Save Dollhouse' campaign soon, who's with me?.....anyone?!?
