What's a Betty to do now that Matt has left for a faraway land? Find another man to keep the Ugly Betty story going. Well, not that soon, really. We still have to wait to witness this mad turn of events.
Entertainment Weekly reports that there's going to be a new flame for our brace-faced heroine soon, and he's coming straight from the set of Mad Men. Actor Rich Sommer has landed a role on the ABC comedy, and it's a potentially recurring one. What's more, it's as a new love interest for our dear Betty Suarez (America Ferrera).
Despite currently busy filming seasons of Mad Men, Rich Sommer will be portraying Jimmy on Ugly Betty soon. He'll be a working class fireman who will start up a flame, not extinguish it, for Betty. But it may take a while before he can get there, because his first impression has certainly watered down his chances with her.
An Ugly Betty insider revealed that Jimmy and Betty's first night out will be disastrous, even describing it as "the date from hell." He's still a nice guy though, so there may still be hope for him.
A fireman and references to hell? Hmm, this sounds like irony's going to keep its head up for the show. Or maybe he'll just put out the fire that is Matt.
Speaking of that clingy romantic, he's not really in the picture all that much. He may have said goodbye to Betty, but as Silvio Horta says, there's a chance all of our heroine's loves will be back some time.
Before the grand reunion though, Betty has to go through and meet other guys first. Rich Sommer's Jimmy doesn't seem like something she'll get into for a long-term thing, but it's still too early to say. After all, he won't show up until March.
