The New York City gym teacher who punched Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi on Jersey Shore has apologized for his actions, the New York Post reports.
Brad Ferro, 24, says he doesn't remember much of the night at the Beachcomber Bar & Grill in Seaside Heights, N.J., where, earlier in the night, bouncers told him to cut back on drinking. "It's all fuzzy. I remember a punch - I don't remember who or why and I remember being arrested."
"When I saw the video, I was sick to my stomach," Ferro told the Post. "I couldn't believe that I'd ever do anything like that. I was raised to act in a respectful manner to women."
Ferro hopes that Snooki, 21, will be able to forgive him. "I'm very sorry for what happened," he told her. "I deeply regret what happened. Nobody deserves that. That was not the real Brad Ferro."
After the attack, Ferro was arrested and subsequently removed from his class and placed into one of the Department of Education's teacher reassignment centers.
His lawyer, Andrew Siben, hopes Ferro will get a second chance to prove himself. "I think he's a decent young man who, unfortunately, made a bad decision which has come back to haunt him," said Siben.
Jersey Shore airs Thursdays at 10/9c on MTV, though the network has decided not to air the punch in this week's episode as originally planned.
