Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia, Heroes co-stars and real-life couple, have reportedly called it quits after dating for a little over a year. According to Us Magazine, the split was amicable so there's no need to worry about the tension on the set of the NBC series.
If you've read last week's rumor, then this shouldn't really be a surprise. Panettiere, 19-year-old actress who plays Claire Bennet on the series, was spotted with 21-year-old Jesse McCartney at a bar where the age appropriate lovers were reportedly all over one another, with Panettiere perched on the singer's lap while he kissed her neck. As expected, this led people to think that Panettiere has split with her 31-year-old boyfriend.
It was a lifestyle conflict. They were in very different places. [Hayden] likes to go out in the Hollywood scene and that's not his style, a source close to the couple told Us Magazine, adding that the breakup happened within the last week. ''They were in very different places."
On the other hand, the insider says they are still on friendly terms. There are no hard feelings.
Ventimiglia, who plays Peter Petrelli on Heroes, "has been concentrating on work on his production company [Divide Pictures]," the source added.
Panettiere and Ventimiglia began dating in December 2007 though the couple denied the status of their relationship. Eventually, Ventimiglia confirmed that he was in fact dating his Heroes co-star during an interview on the BBC's The Chris Moyles in April 2008. While some were pleased with their relationship, many were appalled - in part because of their 12-year age gap. Just last month, the two were spotted taking a romantic getaway at Bora Bora for the holidays.
Meanwhile, fans can still catch Panettiere and Ventimiglia on Heroes, airing every Monday on NBC.
