'American Idol': Ellen Hopes for 'More Dynamic' Talent

It's another American Idol roundup, featuring Kris Allen's battle scars, Carrie Underwood's surprise wedding plans, and Michael Sarver's upcoming album.

But we begin with one of the judges: Ellen DeGeneres is confident that she's learned her lesson from the past season of Idol and, in an interview with USA Today, promises to be just herself. "Your first year anywhere is going to be tough because you're trying to figure out what your role is," she said. "I think next year my role will be to be exactly who I am, sometimes funny and sometimes serious and I think I'll probably learn to be a little harder on people without being rude. But I think it was a fine line for me to walk this year."

And her hopes for next season? Better talent, of course! "I'm hoping to find more unique people who never would have maybe been given chance to be on [the] show," she said. "I like the fact that Crystal [Bowersox] was on the show this year and wouldn't have necessarily been on before. I want to find more dynamic people and more interesting people."
