ABC's Modern Family has found a down-home country mama for Cameron (Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet). Beating out Delta Burke, Dianne Wiest, Kathy Bates and several others is character actress Celia Weston, who has made a mark in films and on television ever since she debuted as trucker/waitress Jolene Hunnicutt on the CBS sitcom Alice back in the early '80s.
While it was originally believed that Barb Tucker would be arriving with her husband for Thanksgiving, the character will now drop in solo for a non-holiday visit to her little Cam-chop.
Adept at playing moms on ABC shows, Celia appeared on Desperate Housewives in 2008 as Adele Delfino, the mother of James Denton's Mike. The South Carolina-born actress, 58, has also won raves in such films as The Talented Mr. Ripley, In the Bedroom and Junebug.
A perfect choice in my book! I can already picture her pinching Eric's cheeks.
