Cancellation Buzz: NBC Cancels 'Mercy' and 'Trauma'

Can you guys keep up with all of these cancellations today?!

From THR:

Some wonder how low rated an NBC show needs to be to get canceled. This is it.

NBC has put the medical drama "Mercy" out of its misery. The long-struggling Wednesday night freshman drama most recently pulled a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 in the 9 p.m. hour.

The network also officially pulled the plug on its other freshman medical drama this season, "Trauma." NBC executives indicated the show was cancelled once already this season, then ordered a few additional episodes once it became clear "The Jay Leno Show" wasn't going to last. "Trauma" was averaging around a 1.7 rating in its final days.

"Mercy" and "Trauma" joins "Law & Order" on the NBC axe-list, which after a protracted struggle officially got cut this morning.

Mercy was actually pretty good and I really want to have a conclusion for the Chloe love angle and now I'll never have one!

why Mercy, it is sad that the show did not get a season 2, but what really blows is they canceled it after giving use several cliff hangers!

NBC is dead to me too. I have both those on my tracking lists. I work while those are on or else I would watch them when they air. Idiots.

I actually like Mercy. Aside from House and Nurse Jackie, it's the only medical show that I still watch. It's relatively good and not too heavy on the soap opera. Grey's is unwatchable, it's less medical, more everyone sleeping with everyone now. They had to merge two hospitals just so the doctors have more people to sleep with. At least relationships in Mercy are not that incestuous. I would've liked for there to be a season 2. But at least Sonia and Nick are back together at the end... that's the only resolution I'm going to get from the show I guess, since the finale hinted that both Chris and Mike were in trouble.
I hope this will make Josh Schwartz decide to bring Georgina back for season 4 of Gossip Girl. I need Michelle Trachtenberg in my TV. She's an awesome actress.

Truth be told, Mercy┬┤s cancellation sucks,I think it had lot of potential to get better, and If they knew they were about to cancel, why this mysterious season ending?? Anyway, Mercy aside, I ve read Georgina is back in the Upper East Side, and looks like is gonna be for good, and blonde.

I really enjoyed Mercy. I thought that the dynamic was pretty good, especially after the first few episodes. I am upset that there will not be a conclusion for all the loose ends.

this is bullcrap...i dont watch many doctor shows and this was by far my favorite...it was house meets scrubs meets er meets gray's. lots of innovative techniques to solve problems with drunken irish humor and all the drama of the hospital and love triangles and such all around. NBC is out of their minds, if hey continue to cancel all their shows, they wont have a network much longer

After watching the finale I feel the need to vent my feelings. Absolutely devastated! especially after leaving so many cliff hangers. I need closure :P The production crew should just do a couple more eps so tie up all the lose ends. Theres so much I want to know!!!!

I was just starting to wonder when the second season was going to be airing when I read this. I am so disappointed. The show had just started to get interesting with the different twists and turns and the season finale was a-mazing. Why even bother trying to create a decent show if they're just going to cancel it after one season? Let the thing mature a bit before you decide to give it the ax.

I just started to watch Mercy online the other day and I think it is one of the best medical shows to be on TV. I'm hoping another network picks it up (long shot). I don't know why NBC decided to keep Parenthood around instead of Mercy...they had the same ratings and Parenthood is so much worse (in my opinion). I tried to watch the first 2 episodes of Parenthood as I thought it would be similar to Modern Family but just couldn't get into it. I'm just gonna stop watching NBC, they cancel all the good shows. They should have at least given Mercy a second season to see if the ratings picked up. Maybe after their new shows bomb they'll bring Mercy back...fingers crossed.
