I don't know why the discussion went there, but I'll let it be, then. Despite all that talk at the end of CSI: NY's finale--about who got affected by that drive-by shooting, or how Danny and Lindsay will deal with family and work--some people are still looking at that one thing they're wondering about: will Mac and Stella ever come together? And by that, I mean beyond their already close workplace relationship.
TVGuide.com asked Melina Kanakaredes, and as expected, she didn't exactly give any answers, although I think it's verging on a no. "We fit together," she said. "It's a great team because they approach things differently, but in the end, you need each other. So, romantic or not romantic, I think there is that big brother kind of family thing."
Oh, wait, she said something else. "When you put two leads together, it's usually at the end of the run of the show, you know what I mean?"
Yeah, slightly ambiguous, but I get her.
My unnecessary two cents: do we really need another romance on CSI: NY? There's the Danny-Lindsay thing, and there's the quickly-truncated Flack-Angell thing, which ended in pretty dire circumstances, if you must remember. I think if there'd be a second romance, it'd have to be very much in the background, because the Danny-Lindsay story will take center stage of sorts next season.
That is, unless you want awkwardly sweet moments--and I think it'd be very, very weird if we see that in Mac and Stella. Remember, there are other characters, too. And the new one, too, whoever newcomer Sarah Carter will be playing.
But why think about romance now? I'm still putting my bets on the drive-by shooting making a big impact on the sixth season of CSI: NY, which premieres on September 23. Spoiler speculation alert: If I heard correctly, Danny's going to be bound to a wheelchair...
