Five Ideas for the Next Season of 'Chuck'

I say this as a big fan of 'Chuck': the show has jumped the shark. There are several reasons for this, but the big one is that once Chuck and Sarah got together there seemed nowhere else for the show to go.

The show could create artificial barriers such as the Intersect malfunctioning or Morgan trying to become a spy, but in the end the show had two goals set in the first season: 1. Chuck's search for purpose in life and 2. Chuck's evolving relationship with Sarah. Both of these issues were resolved halfway through the third season before the six-episode extension. And now, it's been renewed for a fourth season.

Despite this negativity, I'm all for this renewal, if only to see how the writers essentially dig themselves out of the hole they're in. If 'Heroes' can get a five-year ride off an amazing first season (and subsequent crappy ones), then 'Chuck' is ahead of the curve.

Well , they couldn't just string along chuck and sarah playing cat and mouse for another season, it was inevitable that they got together. And now it paves the way for big drama to happen in terms of things that could come between them. The writers, i am sure, weren't sure if there was another season coming, so they had to take the risk of closing up the storing prematurely, but it doesn't mean they can't play around with what they have now created with chuck and sarah's relationship.

Honestly, I'm glad Chuck and Sarah got together. It's nice to see a show that isn't all about the will-they-won't-they aspect. That gets old fast. This show has more going on than just Chuck/Sarah, and I genuinely look forward to watching what comes next. Here's to a great fourth season!

maxgt The chuckpocalyse was nothing compared to what will happen if they breakup chuck and sarah like js did with the gg couple.Theirs still plenty of story to be explored with them in a relationship then artificial barrier nonsense they have tried in the first 13 episodes of the third season in my opinion the best episodes this season have been the last four where they have been a couple they have been very funny and actually moved the characters forward.Getting back too sarah kicking ass instead of the angst nonsense they persisted with for the entire first thirteen eps.The show isn't only a relationship drama so the way you can keep the tension in the relationship if they must by bringing back those missions where either chuck or sarah have to seduce an agent or asset to get the information they need the funny camera cuts to them stressing and the subsequent discussions between them could be both funny and interesting to fill the gap of them obsessing about not being together moonlight theory has killed every subsequent writing teams originality I hope fedak dosen't go down the whedon line of whenever the characters are happy someone is going to die.

hey guys, all nice ideas, but you forgot a really important one.Chuck and Ellis mom!We learned about Sarahs past, we also learned about Caseys past (not a lot, but enough to draw a picture of their lifes and how they became the persons they are today),but the Bartowski family is still a half closed book. We know all about Orion aka. Chucks dad, but we only know that their mother left. We don't know why or who she might be?!I think the next season will center on chucks past. How he became the chuck, we loved in the begining of the show. Of course with a big twist and an appearence of the mom and her involvement in the spyworld. They also will have to find a new kind of storytelling, maybe with flashbacks, so that chuck can evolve as a spy in the present, without loosing the buymore and its beloved characters. But we will see...

I think there are plenty of ways this particular premise could go. we could meet Chuck's mother and Sarah's mother. They could end up going to Chuck's high school reunion. There could be another big villain, like Shaw, for Chuck to overcome. More intersect soldiers. Chuck could loose the intersect, but retain most of the combat with muscle memory.
I have a lot of confidence in the writers to come up with great ideas much better than what we can come up with.

im sick of seeing couples on shows never acting on their feelings, stringing each other along and there constantly being something keeping them apart. im happy that chuck didnt follow that route. with chuck now a spy there can be even better storylines maybe him and sarah can go on a long-term undercover mission or chuck has to train someone like john and sarah trained him. there are alot of places this show can go i dont think a couple that everyone knew was going to get together eventually effects the show in any way once they finally did start dating.
