Michael Phelps: Comedian?

Michael Phelps can add one more item to his resume: SNL host.

In his continued quest to help NBC score ratings gold (sorry, had to), Phelps has been tapped to host this season's Saturday Night Live premiere.

The show will air on September 13th and will also feature Lil Wayne as the musical guest, Phelps' known source of pre-race musical inspiration.

In other SNL news, Bobby Moynihan has been added as this season's new featured player. He is currently appearing in online series "The Line" which happens to be from 3 SNL castmembers: Seth Meyers, Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis. Additionally, he has performed with the famed improv group the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.

Don't forget also that Amy Poehler will be departing the cast this season to work on that The Office-spinoff-but-not-The-Office-spinoff-but-similar-to-The-Office series (see here).

So...Phelps has got what it takes to win an unprecedented 8 gold medals, but...can he be funny?

Many have said Phelps should retire from the Olympics life after his massive sweep this time around, so hm, could he take Amy's spot at the Weekend Update desk? (I'm going to say he's an adorably awkward comedian, but hey, a girl can dream for total perfection...)

Phelps on SNL? Awkward to say the least. He is best to stay in the water and out of any acting or comedy or trying to entertain. Just not right.
