Cameron and Chase: Demoted

House fans are eagerly awaiting the show's much anticipated return on April 28th, but if they're also waiting for Cameron and Chase to finally get some more screen time, well, it's going to be awhile.

According to House's creator, David Shore, Cameron and Chase won't be coming back into the limelight any time soon, because it is not "what the show needs".

Says Shore, "Cameron and Chase are certainly not on screen as much as they used to be, but the stuff they're doing, I think, takes on a different weight and a greater weight."

Yeah, I don't know about that...I kind of feel like they have just been non-entities this season, though I personally haven't really missed them that much (which proves just how much Hugh Laurie is the star of that show).

What do you all think? Have you been missing Cameron and Chase?

Ballsy move by the writers to pretty much cut the supporting cast in half, but I believe they've done it successfully. House is a formula show like the CSI's, where the same thing happens each episode in a different way. Unlike shows like LOST and The Riches, which revolve around the intriguing storyline in order to keep the viewers coming back from week to week - this show need interesting things to happen to the cast that keeps the audience intrigued and guessing. House, as a show, was running out of things to do - so they ended up cutting Cameron, Chase and Foreman (for a bit) and bringing a whole new cast with a whole new background and stories/storylines for future episodes.

As intressting as Chase and Cameron are, I do think it was time to focus on other characters, thus preventing the show from going dry. Plus this way when they bring the two back in to the limelight, probably someway related to them being a couple it will be really well done like most the stroy lines on House. For example the Wilson/'cut throat bitch' thing you could honestly have not seen tht comeing for a while, which is what keeps house so intresting. Even if like you say is a formula which at times could get very boring otherwise.

I have to admit, I was happy not to have to see Chase and Cameron so much - especially Cameron! The running storyline of constantly trying to change/trick/get the better of House has gotten a bit tired to me and since Cameron seemed to be the chief instigator, I was definitely pleased to not have to deal with her judgmental and self-righteous air quite so much.I agree the show is one of those formulaic ones - the same diseases are mentioned as likely in each episode! But I guess that's what makes it realistic. I think the writers and producers are doing a great job keeping the audience interested, but I do get irritated with the over-development of House as an ass and everyone trying to change him or suck up to him. Let's learn something new about House already!

I miss having them around. It added something to the plot which has been getting redundant (sick person, figure it out, cure).

I think it might be a cool thing to purposely rotate supporting cast if not replace them entirely...certainly helps keep the show fresh and you could have some really dark crazy characters appear....like 'angel of death' type interns or some nympho lady doc that bangs every doctor on the staff.....if they have trouble keeping that show fresh, they should just email me for ideas lol.

If they weren't willing to step up and give the characters some serious story lines then what they did was for the best.

I miss them a lot, I have to admit. I understand why they had to give House some new colleagues but I still miss their appearances as they seem to know House and his smart games and know how to deal with him, I always liked the challanges for House...
The new ones are o.k., they might need some more time in terms of character development but they not as strong as the old team.
Still think House is one of the smartest shows ever on tv, if you don´t have to listen to the horible translations, like we have to over here in Germany.
Thanx to Sidereel I can see the original ;)
