ABC Cancels 'Defying Gravity' After Only 8 Episodes - Featured

It looks like "Defying Gravity" is indeed getting canceled.

During its September 13 episode, ABC announced it as the "Season Finale" and did not give any previews to the next episode which is traditionally done to other continuous series.

The series about eight astronauts in a space mission was not exactly a hit maker. It premiered to only 3.83 million viewers on August 2 and the number has constantly deteriorated since then. Last week, ABC has excluded listing "Gravity" on the schedule after the September 13 episode but did not give explanation to that.

The series was supposed to have at least two more episodes that would run through October but the Alphabet apparently has another option for its Sunday 10/9c slot. "Brothers & Sisters" meanwhile, will begin the fourth season on September 27.

ABC is expected to release the official statement about the cancellation soon. Meanwhile, it is unclear whether CTV which is also airing the show, will continue with the remaining episodes.

Damn it!!!
This is one of the best shows iv come across. I look forward to it so much every week. I should have known they wouldn't give it a chance.
The execs have done it again and forgotten there supposed to entertain and instead decided there pay checks are more important.

Lol.Just as its getting really interesting they're cancelling it. I have to admit that I had the feeling the show was leading towards nothing, but after I watched Episode 8, I decided to stick to it. And in my euphoria I'm reading this.
And to be honest, what kind of 'finale' was episode 8?! Not one single planet visited, "beta" not even almost revealed (or even seen!), and only a few weeks of the 6 year mission time passed.Ep8 was more of a prelude to the real "Defying Gravity".
Im totally disappointed and angry with those in charge!

Sincerely frustrating move by ABC.Why oh why do I bother watching any new shows? Soon our tv is going to be nothing but pubescent girls squealling over some guy or reality shows taking some gormless twit for a ride.

That's just stupid. Every good show is canceled before it is given a chance. It is very frustrating

I decided to watch 2 new shows this season.
Warehouse 13 and Defying Gravity.
DG was really good, with exceptional character development and a good premise set in the near future, in space.
Warehouse 13 seems to be more popular. I don't know why. It's a good show, but DG is soo much better.
Do people not like a good story/adventure anymore?
What do we see on tv these days?
1. reality tv
WhoTF watches these things? Really, who watches this?
2. cop shows
CSI this NCIS that. Boring. We've seen it all before.
Thank god there are still shows like Lost (which I think has the same "flaws" as DG) and Supernatural around.

Well such is the burden of being a sci-fi fan. We always end up with half a story (if we are lucky)

I am devastated. I looked forward to this show each week. :( It's sad when they cancel GOOD shows. The cast worked so well together.

Please remove this comment or at least put a note that this information is false. The show has not been canceled. It just doesn't have a permanent time slot (which apparently ABC knew when they ordered it).
