TNT Renews HawthoRNe. Do We Care? - Featured

HawthoRNe was one of those summer shows that never grabbed me enough to give it a chance; I didn't even bother to watch the pilot.

The response from other Reelers ranged from lukewarm to reasonably excited. Read them here!

For those few that liked the show and stuck with it - you will be pleased to know that TNT is also a fan of the series, as they have renewed the freshman drama for 10 additional episodes, to air in 2010.

The series is averaging 3.8 million viewers a week in its Tuesday night timeslot. The first season concludes next Tuesday.

Are you excited that HawthoRNe will be returning, or like me, did you never manage to get into the series?

I think it's pretty watchable - par for the course for a hospital drama. But it's being blown out of the water by Nurse Jackie.

satinbutterfly, if you never watched the show, how would you know 'everything else' is better?
I am a nurse & this show is absolutely realistic, it really shows the viewers what it's like to battle in the hospital everyday. Other hospital dramas make it seem like the doctors are all buddy-buddy with the nurses & that the nurses easily keep their cool in rough situations. HawthoRNe shows the nitty-gritty of working in a hospital as a nurse, from battling the doctors to breaking down because their patients die. I am glad this show got renewed, it is important that the viewers see what it's like from the hospital nurses perspective.

I was thinking the same thing...how can you make a judgment about a show you've never even watched? I like the perspective of this show and have enjoyed watching it. It's a freshman show, and has been trying to find it's rhythm, but I think it has improved throughout the season. The most recent episode, "Mother's Day," got to me. It is definitely one of the show's best. I'm glad TNT saw the potential in this show and gave it another season.

I watch both Nurse Jackie and HawthoRNe and i find that HawthoRNe is better, the acting is better in my opinion and i find the plot to be better in HawthoRNe. Nurse Jackie is good but i think its only good because its on cable and this has embolden the writers, so in nurse jackie someone could easily say go phvck yourself and that is quite likely exactl what the scene requires but the writers of hawthorne would need to be ingenious to effect the same feeling using less hostile language.Really and truly you cant really compare the two except to say that they are hospital dramas centered on nurses
