To me the best season of buffy was season 2, the worst (as I think will be for most) was season 6. However I still loved every minute of the 6th aswell as all the other seasons!! So in turn now I am curious, what are yours??

Season 2 was indeed up there with the best if not for season five's fierce competition. I would have to say that Season one was the worst. It was obviously as experimental as possible and was as bad as Fox's new sci fi thriller "Fringe". But season five showed us what a hero Buffy really was. Season six gave us another glimpse of the depths of Joss Whedon's willingness to ignite emotion. It was a very psychological season. I think season four is the only season where a major character isn't killed which is why some people think it's low on the list- am I rambling? I'm going to stop now.

I think season 6 just proves Joss Whedon is a genius. Genius. And I agree that the first season was possibly the worst. I mean, come on. The praying mantis episode? And David Boreanaz? I'm still surprised he's evolved into such a good actor when I watch those first episodes.

For the best season I can hardly choose between 2 and 3 who were both splendid IMO, 1 was a fresh and innovating start in my opinion and for that reason I choose to ignore some of the beginner faults, the lesser acting from the starting actors and the special affects. Season 4 and 5 were okay, some episodes very good, others bad and specially in 4 some extraordinary! was my least favourite but still had some brilliant epi's and 7 was also a little adjustment but I enjoyed it as well and it made for a nice end to an amazing show!

It's gotta be season 6, I'm a massive spuffy fan, Spike was always a hell of a lot more entertaining than Angel and season 6 was really spike heavy, and that was the season with the best episode of Buffy ever...The Musical! My worst is a toss up between 4 and 7. 4 because the initiative thing, I thought, was pants. And 7 because he went and killed off Anya - who dies trying to save that really annoying character Andrea - poor show Mr Whedon. But yeh it's probably four because Oz left, which just sucked, Riley was rubbish, that Frankenstien creation wassisname was rubbish and yeh there was less of Giles...So yeh =)

Series one has to be forgiven for its bad acting and special effects, Joss started a series that could have gone either way and after watching the movie I'm sure it didnt help to generate many fans. For me the worst series was series 6. Even though I loved tabula rasa and once more with feeling, it just wasn't as strong as the others in its humour or in its drama. But I do love the evil geek trio!Series 3 has always been my favourite, the character of Faith was a genious idea. For me, series three was the year when it matured into something more than a teenage show with a monster of the week. And lets not forget the mayors reaction to getting blown up, "well gosh!"For anyone who isnt reading them, I highly recommend the series eight comics of buffy, they are incredible!

All right my turn now !My favourite season is season 5 (although it's hard to choose really) for many reasons: really good bad guy (I loved Gloria), Spike is changing but not less entertaining, Dawn is not yet too annoying, and of course Riley goes away.My worst season is gotta be season 4 mostly because of Riley and the initiative, but it's still a season I can watch over and over again without being bored (well Spike is back on season 4 too ^^).

Best Seasons 2 or 3, then 4 (cos spikes in it more from then on).Worst 7! I was so disapointed, I could just see it going down hill right to the end... then I transfered to angel season 5 which was quite good.
getting the full set soon, so I'll watch them all regardless!

alright to sloggy....who's gloria i think you may mean Glory. Anyway i do agree with you on Glory being an amazing villain, the concept is amazing on how she is/was this goddess but no season 5 was not my favorite. I liked the idea of S6 with willow and the gang of nerds cause i thought Johnathon (Danny Strong) was hilarious. I also liked Andrew. Warren Not SO MUCH! but i liked the season. The first is probably the worst in terms of whats going on and effects and acting but still a great season cause it did what it did as being a mid-season replacement, and based off of a terrible movie. Well this is what Joss Whedon intended on making until some producers turned the movie into poop. but here it is. My Favorite season. SEASON 4. Great concepts everywhere and a lot going on. Liked the initiative idea, and how insecure she felt in college. also, it has the timeless, most amazing episode HUSH. Come on people we all know that was one of the best things we've seen on t.v. period. (another reason why I like season 6 is because of the episode "THE BODY" where buffy finds her mom dead. POWERFUL STUFF!!! My least favorite season is season 5 Just really didn't care for it. The whole key thing and the sister idea it was too overbearing for a lot of people. But like I said I do like the season. I can't really give a worst too much because the whole show was AMAZING, and it still is in my eyes the best show to grace television. The only ones that come close are battlestar and Supernatural.

People hate six, but along with two and five it's one of my faveorites.
Seven is definitely the worst, with the potentials and Kennedy! The only saving graces of that season were Spike, the Anya and Andrew moments and Nathan Fillion showing up as Caleb.

season 3 was my favorite, although it's really hard to choose one..
i was disappointed with season 7... i've watched the other seasons over and over again. but with season 7, it's just not the same. i couldnt stand kennedy and the whole thing with the potentials was kind of stupid. not at all what i had hoped for. it's still good, just not as good as the other seasons.

I recently obtained and watched all of the Buffy seasons 1-7!! Yeah. And I though this over with great care so lets see. Best is a tie between 5, 6, 7. Why?? Because all of these seasons have kick-ass villains. From Hell God Glory to Bad Wicca Willow and the Geek Trio-who may I say crack me up- to The First Evil, not to mention Caleb and the Vamp thingys. They all have great character story lines like Xander and Anya relationship, Buffy and Spike- because I hate Angel and love Spike, Willow and Tara, Dawn being the key-awesome. Buffy dieing and then coming back. Tara dieing. Giles leaving-though I was a big fan. Also had great episodes like from season 5- The Body where Joyce dies. Crush- Spike's unrequited love. Intervention- The BuffyBot. Season 6- Life Serial- Geek Trio make her loose her jobs and mind, LOL. Once More With Feeling- The Best Shortest Musical EVER. Tabula Rasa- Hilarious Episode. Season 7- Beneath You- Spike has his soul, very sad episode. Conversations With Dead People, Lies My Parents Told Me and Dirty Girls. Then Season 2. Because we get Spike, yeah and then we get Angelus and Jenny dies. Joyce finds out what Buffy is. Buffy and Spike unite and she kills Angel!! . Then comes Season 4. Just because I think them getting away from High School is great and Xander living in the basement is awesome. Also great episodes like- Something Blue and Hush. Then comes Season 3- Hello Faith, The Mayor and blowing up the High School. And last is Season 1 for many reasons. 1) Horrible Effects 2) Horrible Storyline 3) Angel 4) I didn't really like Buffy and that's a bad sign and 5) Annoying. But luckily I believed in my friend when she told me it would get a lot better and it did.

6 is actually my favorite with life as the big bad. it really went to places previous seasons hadnt. season 3 is up there to. thats when the show really developed. i have to say that i actually liked 7, especially nathan fillion, but it had too much deus ex machina and i just didnt buy it when the gang voted buffy out. worst season was probably 1 and even the beginning of 2 because of the whole creature-of-the-week format. season 5 isnt one of my favorites either. Glory was a unique idea and i loved how the actress portrayed her, but overall it required me to suspend my disbelief one too many times.

6 is my favorite. I've heard a lot of people hate it and I can understand why, it's very dark and I guess some people didn't want the show to go that way, but I thought it was spectacular. Once More with Feeling, Tabula Rasa, and Life Serial were obviously some of the most genius episodes ever and I loovveeed the Trio as the villains. Some people say they sucked, I thought they were hilarious and so dark at the same time.
Also, I adore Spike, so him being in basically every episode in various stages of undress was amazing.
I HATED season 5. Apparently no one feels as strongly about it as I do, but I HATED it. Glory got so old so fast. The whole thing with Ben and Glory - it felt weird and stupid. I absolutely DESPISED riley and dawn and they featured prominently in a lot of this season (it's one redeeming factor was that Riley left half-way through), but we still had to put up with his horrible-ness for a good amount of episodes.and i thought 'The Gift' was so overdramatic. Everyone says it's like the best Buffy episode ever. I thought it was alright but soo overdone and amped up for the tear jerker.(So I probably teared up, but I still thought it was over the top)

i also want to add that oz poofing and willow becoming gay were so not cool. its not that i am a gay basher i just thought that willow and oz were perfect for eachother and was kinda mad when they broke up. and i agree that riley was just whatever. he served no purpose in furthering the story. what i really want to know though is why oz didnt reappear in the final episodes to help battle the big bad although now that i think about it there was only so much they could do with him after that last time he left.

As a Big Buffy Fan It's really hard to pick My Favorite and least favorite season but if i have to i'd have to say it's a tie between season 3 and 4 for best because (for season 3) i loved it when Buffy and the scooby gang where in high school and there was a big evil but there was one episode storys as well , I love the introduction of faith to the series and who can forget the explosive ending of season 3 and season 4 because it followed the same kind of thing the scooby gang where growing up and we saw the return of spike. and to 'Rebletomboy' you may find dawn annoying but without her character we wouldn't have had the main storyline of the 5th season and buffy would have never died in season 5 and then she would have never been brought back and season 7 would never have happened and Riley was crusual to season 4 storyline with ADAM and in season 5 he was part of the reason buffy grow up as a character. Every Character Joss writes has a purpose.

First off I must agree with thelostboy09... HUSH and THE BODY where 2 of my favorite episodes in the entire series.
Secondly I don't think the first season should count because it was not granted a very good budget due to the movie, so I don't consider it as good or bad (but I did like the master)
So with all that out of the way my favorite Buffy Season is a tie between season 3 and season 7... I loved season 7 mainly due to the ending, I MEAN THEY BLEW UP SUNNYDALE!!! Not only that, but Buffy, Willow and the entire gang went through so much and grew in that season.. But I also agree with gabby19, they should not have killed Anya off, it didn't make sense (and I really wanted Buffy and Spike to get together, they were so much better then Buffy and Angel)
As for the worst, Season 4. The whole concept was stupid and I really hated Riley. It was really pointless and at points made me really mad (but I did love the fact that they had K's Choice on it)

Season 5 was the best -between Glory and Spike, nothing could beat it;) Glory was by far my favorite villain (thought The First Evil is scariest) and I had been waiting for Spike to really become the main feature. The 1st season and the one with Reilly as the love interest are the two worst seasons -it was Spike that made this whole show worthwhile in my eyes. I hated Angel but that season finale where Buffy kills him is my favorite finale by far -so emotional.

Ok i have to start out by saying that Buffy is probably one of the best TV shows ever made, however season six was by far the worst season of the show. I will only consed that the season in question has my favorite episode of the show the brilliant Once More with Feeling, but this is as far as my praises will go as the rest of this season made absolutely no sense. Firstly, this is the only season without a well defined "Big Bad" and the three nerds in no way can be counted as anything near what is expected from a big bad (the show itself even makes fun of this fact in the asylum ep). Secondly, it had my least favorite ep Seeing Red where Benson finally got her name in the opening only to be killed by a gun, Come on a gun who the hell wrote that into a show where people have been impaled with pipes and come out fine or fight in apocalyptic battles only to have one or two scratches. Finally, again in the same worst ep of the show the scene where Spike tries to rape Buffy in the bath room, no matter what anyone says about artistic expression that scene was just distasteful and to further underscore this James Masters himself said that he would never do a scene like that again. Now as my tirade comes to an end the best season of the show has to be season five as we the audience got everything you expect to get in a buffy season an established big bad, a mystery that buffy and gang most solve (Dawn appearing at the end of the first ep no one in the world expected that) and a season finally that was in one word epic from the last three ep s there was one terrific fight after another ending with our hero bravely sacrificing her life to save the world.

Am I the only one who hated Glory? I never liked her, even if she was all villainy, my favorite villains are definitively Angelus (he's so good at being bad, much more interesting than with a soul), Spike and Drusilla, The "Three" (geeks) and... I liked Caleb, I think he was a good enough villain. I can't say I have a favorite season though, but I didn't like riley nor kennedy either.

Season 2 of Buffy was by far the best season ever. Not only did it have the Buffy-Angel love story (which will always be better than the Buffy-Spike story line) but it had Willow/Oz, Cordy/Xander, Giles/Jenny and Spike/Dru! Angel turning bad was such a good twist and the emotion that played out was amazing. Becoming Part 2 is my all time favourite episode (closely followed by Innocence and Once More With Feeling). The season finale left such a big cliff hanger (it makes me cry everytime I watch it) that you knew season 3 was going to be great as well (it’s my second favourite season). Season 2 also had some great comedy moments which I thought the show lost in the later seasons (especially when Spike went all love puppy on Buffy)
Season 5 is my least favorite season. I found Dawn extremely annoying and in my opinion she only became tolerable in season 7 when she finally grew up. Although the idea of Glory/Ben was decent one the high point for me was when Riley finally left (thankgod).
Seasons 1, 4, 6 and 7 all fall in the middle somewhere with all of them having their good and bad points – both Hush and Once More With Feeling were genius on Joss’s behalf. I was disappointed that after everything Buffy and Angel didn’t end up together, but I get why they didn’t and Buffy still remains by favourite TV show of all time and I could watch any of the episodes 100 times and not get bored.

Buffy was and is my favourite tv show. Its really hard to choose from all the amazing seasons but the best for me were seasons 3 and 4. 3 was dramatic and very soulful because of Angel's come back, it was a great idea to create a character like Faith, she brought the bad girl attitude that was needed ("Bad girls" episode was great), "Lovers walk" is one of my favourite episodes. I deffinetly agree that "Hush" is the best episode. It was unbelievable that everyone was glorifying Joss Whedons dialogs and he decided to make an episode with no words at all. It was one of the most meaningful things ever seen on tv. Even though i didnt like Riley and the hole initiative season 4 was very interesting and i loved the irony of Spikes return. My least favourite season would be #7 because it was coming to an end and it seens like the actors weren't trying as hard as they used to and Buffys displeased face was too much for me. But still evety time Spike came into the picture it got better)But on the hole as many of the previous writers had sad i could watch the show a thousand times more because the lines, charecters, jokes and everything is perfect.

My favorite seasons would have to be either 2 or 7. I loved the episodes with Angelus, but Spike in season 7 is totally badass.
I'd have to say season 1 and 3 were the worst though, due to the fact Spike wasn't in them. In my opinion I think James Marsters is what kept the show going on.

In my opinion Season 4 was the worst because it was just a rip off of the first Resident Evil game which did come out well before season 4. Although Season 4 did have the best episode ever in Hush. I liked Season 3 the best with the introduction of a bad slayer. I hated the musical episode and the three nerds in Season 6 made it the funniest season of all.

Seasons 3 and 4 were the best and seasons 1 and 5 were the worst. Season 6 definitely is up there too. some GREAT episodes there (Once More w/ Feeling, Tabula Rasa, etc.) 2 and 7 were very good in the sense of really telling you a lot about the characters and helping you get to know them, but they were both a bit depressing for me too.

Personally, I find this a hard thing to do when it comes to Buffy. I enjoyed many of the episodes, of course some more than others, but most of my favorite seasons also have some of my least favorite episodes.
My favorite episodes were the Wicked Willow trilogy episodes at the end of season six, but I wasn't too fond of Anya and Xander's marriage in that particular season.
I was a true Buffy fan (still am), and probably couldn't say which season I liked the most or the least. I love them all in different ways for different reasons.

I thought Season Six was the best, partly because it was so dark on so many levels. The Bad-Willow plotline was also very well done.
I liked Season Seven the least. All the slayers-in-waiting were just annoying. Far, far too many new people to introduce at such a late stage. And the way they all turned against Buffy was not feasible or believable, it seemed like it was done just for a plot twist, but it rang false.

I just think it's interesting how differing the fans' answers are, which I think is a compliment to Joss, seeing that all his seasons had something good in them that none can be written off! At first I was majorly bummed out by the depressing and wacky season 6... but there are too many good things (sans the Xander-Anya break-up) like the sexy-awesome Spike scenes, musical episode, funny human villains and evil Willow. And season 1 is pretty lame but still sooo enticing. Thus I decide that season 4 was the worst: lame villain, lame and boring and doofy boyfriend, and with the exception of a few amazingly directed Joss episodes, the season itself was a rebound season with the loss of Angel to his inferior spin-off. My feelings toward Angel thus make my favorite season clear, 3rd... with the second half of 2nd season running close behind. Some people are knocking 7th season, but come on? could it have ended better than that? Dramatic, climactic, tragic (poor Anya), and yet so hopeful!

Definately season 6. Everyone really came into their own in that season. Spike and Buffy's romance was the best one in the series, and Buffy going through what she went through developed her a lot as a character, giving her more depth. Willow finally broke out into her own and Xander was finally happy in a relationship. It was also darker, more introspective, and yet had more comedy than previous seasons.
That being said, season 2 was epic, and season 3 had Faith who is a great character. Season 7 was pretty amazing too (probably coming in a close second after season 6).
The worst seasons in order - season 4, season 1, season 3, season 5.

my favorite would have to be six; right up until seeing red - that ep has to be the one of the most heart-wrenching (bar of course when spike dies)i hold issue with season 4; what the hell is up with the initiative? and riley - did anyone actually want buffy to end up with him? and there are just no words to describe the disaster that is adam

I would probably choose season 6 as my absolute favorite season. I just think that the storyline in season 6 showed a new aspect of all of the characters. It also explored the theme of addiction in a pretty creative way. Season 5 is also good but depressing so, of the seasons I've collected, I watch that the least. However, The Body, no matter how depressing, is still in my top 5 list of favorite Buffy episodes.
My least favorites would probably have to be season 2 (yes, I know it's a lot of people's favorites) and maybe season 4. There are certain episodes in each that I do like (Superstar and the whole Faith return from season 4, Halloween and Ted from Season 2) but overall I found them weak.

I think that the 1st and the 4th seasons were the worst. For the 1st, everybody agree so I won't explain. For the 4th : initiative+Adam+Riley+wolf girl+no more Oz+no more Angel =lame and boring. The only things that I like are to see Buffy struggling with college, because this is something you can rely to and the incredible episode "Hush".I don't have a favorite season. I think that they all have great things to offer, and they also all have some bad stuff.2 : great love story at the beginning, Dru and Spike are in town, Angelus comes back and he is really fun to watch. The last episode is great but very sad. First she kills him and then she runs away...3 : The mayor is a very good villain, Faith is a great character even though I don't really get why she turns evil, I think she just wants to go the easy way and I find it stupid, Angel has changed and Buffy has to tame him.5 : Dawn is a spoiled brat that I can't stand but Spike is here and Riley leaves and Glory, well she is what you call a villainbut sometimes, she's just annoying. The episode "The body" is really moving. Let's not forget the last episode. When Buffy runs and jumps is that energy ball, it's just so beautiful and so sad at the same time...6 : I really like this one. I love the Spike/Buffy relationship, JM and SMG have so much chemistry. All the characters evolve and change and I think that the show needed that evolution, they really grow up during that season. The nerds, they get on my nerves sometimes but they're not that bad and they're more normal than the other villains, more real, so... And I can't forget my favorite episode of the show : "Once More, With Feeling", great job with this one JW !7 : I didn't like the potentials, especially not Rona, she was such a pain. I enjoyed seeing Spike with a soul but I hated Giles for trying to kill him behind Buffy's back. Dawn was better in that season, except for the episode "Empty places" when they all turn their back on Buffy when she's always had theirs. I really think that making them do that was completely stupid even though it gave us a very nice moment between B and S. Caleb was insane, which was great.
That's about it. In short, Buffy is just great !!!
(I also have to mention "I will remember you" in Angel, for the B/A love story fans, this is a heartbreaking but beautiful episode)

season 3! Just because i got to see Xander and Willow together in "The Wish" (season 3 epi 9). But from season 1 to 4 they were the BEST out of the rest, season 5 to their cancelation didn't do it for me. I still watched it though, but i thought the early years were so much better.

Well, I have to say that I really do love all of the seasons, and Buffy is my fave tv series ever, what with all the contrast of characters, and how brill it made the show. But my fave series would have to be season 2 by a clear mile for loads of reasons. The main reason would be because of my fave character in Buffy ever - the mad mad Drusilla. She was such a brill character, and the actress kept up with people like James (Spike) and Sarah (Buffy). And she was such a brill villain, being vampire and psychic, and also being the only one of the main vampires not to die at all in Buffy, and Angel for that matter. Angel dies, Spike dies, Darla dies (several times). She was just awesome, and also she wasn't just evil for the hell of it, she actually had a story from her past as to why she was insane and evil, which made me really hate Angel and Darla afterwards in all honesty. And of course Spike was brill too, another villain with a history, and I much prefered him to Angel, so I was watching gleefully at the end of season two when Spike beat him up with a poker :PAnd season two was really sad to me as well, when Jenny died. I know no one really seems to like her, but it annoyed me that just as she was growing into her own character (instead of her just being Giles' on/off girlfriend) they had Angelus kill her (another reason for hating him). That was probably one of the few times I actually cried watching the series, it was that sad.But my least favourite season, like a lot of other people, would definitely have to be season four, as I really did hate Riley. He wasn't that interesting a character, and the whole initiative thing was a bit pants in my opinion. And then there was Adam, who was a villain, unlike Dru and Spike, without a real history. Sure he was made out of little bits and peices to become the ultimate evil monster to destroy the world, but then why kill your allies?I think the only thing that saved this series was Spike. He didn't lose his sense of humour at all, and he kept the story going at the right pace. But I admit that the Xander/Anya situation was quite funny too. I enjoyed watching them bicker and the 'make up', because it brought back a little humanity to the story, which the whole intitiative thing took away.Season 7 was a little weird too. I loved the fact that Faith came back, she was another one of my fave characters as she wasn't totally good, she had a bad side and knew how to relax and have fun. And the first was a great villain too, though then again no real back up story, but that's what made it that bit scarier, because it had a story, but no one knew it. The reason why I'm iffy about season 7 is Caleb, he annoys me to no end, not as much as Riley mind you. He basically just went around calling all the girls whores and snapping their necks, stabbing them, or poking eyes out. He didn't really seem that strong to me as a bad guy, I thought that previous villains had been stronger and easier defeated. But I still love both Buffy and Angel, they are awesome, I'm so glad my mom recommended them to me now :)

Spike didnt die he just got turned into a ghost and he appears in season 5 of angel as a main character, but anyways. The best season of buffy has to be a tie between 5 6 and 7 because all those seasons are really spike heavy and i am a big spuffy fan and hes a good guy for the most part in all three seasons, Angel was cool until spike showed up then i noticed how much cooler spike was. But i gotta say Angel should have ended up with faith!!! instead of that principal wood slayer wannabe. i hope he dies in the comic.worst season is a tie between 4 and 14 because it flat out sucked other than a few episodes like hush and the episode where spike gets the chip put in and kinda becomes a good guy but i hated Riley so much i wished that he would have died and the initiative thing was lame. Also Adam was such a horrible villain. here let me poke u with this arm Riley and not kill you but ill make sure to kill this doctor. season 1 because it was experimental the effects sucked and David boreanaz's acting is horrid but all in all i enjoyed every season in some way. Season 3 was also good cause i liked the Mayor and Faith relationship and season 2 was good cause Angelus is freaking awesome and should have been stronger he always was getting his ass kicked by Buffy throughout the whole season but my faviorite episode is The gift i cry everytime i watch it even tho it was overdone it still was amazing.

alrighty my fellow buffy fans... here we go.
Starting with my least favorite season(s) its a toss up between season 1 and 4.
why you ask?
Obviously season 1 was the experimental season and the story lines were VERY high school, and the characters werent really defined yet. Not to mention the master wasent very good. But he had a pretty good scence of humor. "fruit punch mouth" haha. The effects werent very well done. but i spose thats understandable. keep it mind people that the show came on in 1996.
Season 4. well i dunno. this season had some good episodes. Hush was just an absolute phenominon! great writing! and even though i absolutly loved seth green (oz) the way he left was really kinda...good. Admit it people. While the whole thing was going on with vuruca and Oz you were on the edge of your seats. you might not have liked it, but you still couldnt take your eyes off it. BUT, the whole initiative story line was lame. (although the whole science world vs the magic world was sort of intriging) and RILEY! i mean really? we all knew he wouldnt have lasted from the start. He was boring and typical..and blah. So he ruined that season sorta.
other then seasons 1 and 4 i really couldnt choose a favorite. They are all good and very amazingly written. Joss whedon created these characters and a world that we all fell in love with. You know its a good show when it ends and people are still wanting more!
so why are so many people bashing season 7? I thought that it was a smart season. and it ended with a bang! If your a true Buffy fan you'll know that throughout the series all buffy wanted was to be a normal girl. So when season 7 ended and all the girls in the world who might have been a slayer became one...it was like buffy was free. She could finally do whatever she wanted..be whatever she wanted. I loved when in the last episode when there standing where sunnydale once stood after the big battle, and dawn asks buffy what shes gunna do now and the camera does a close up on buffy and she just smiles...what an amazing moment. perfect ending. Not to mention all 3 of the major villins in that season were awesome. the first, caleb, and those supervamps.
wow all this talking about buffy makes me wanna watch it! good thing ive got all 7 seasons.

oh yeah i had to add something.
Have you guys noticed that in the episode "the body" when joyce dies theres no music playing in that WHOLE episode!!!
why you ask?
because Joss whedon said that everyone faces death in their own different way. And when theres certain music playing your forced to feel that way...so therefore that was the only episode in buffy history without music.
god people! isnt joss whedon just a genious!

I personally think Season 6 was the best. There were so many individually awesome episodes (Tabula Rasa, Once More With Feeling, Hell's Bells, must I go on?), the you could TASTE the emotion, and the season finale was one of the only things on television that has ever made me cry.As for worst, season 7. All the way. I wanted to punch Kennedy in the stomach, Spike got significantly less fun, they killed a whole bunch of people who didn't need to die, and I'm sorry, but I never needed to see Faith again. They tried to make this huge uplifting feminist ending, and it wound up forced, corny, and... kind of didn't make much sense. With the exception of Spike's monologue in "Touched", and EVERYTHING ANDREW EVER DID (Tom Lenk = <3), that season sucked.

Well, my order is:
3- This season is absolutely perfect. Besides Dead Man Party there isn't any episodes that are bad and even that one brought to us the Buffy invention which is one of my favorite scenes
6 - I love pain and darkness of this season, the process of growing up and making mistakes when doing it.
2- The most poetic season arc in the history of TV, but with a lot of bad episodes in the mist (Bad Eggs, Reptile Boy anyone?)
5- I love the grandiosity of this season, the exploration of what the slayer power is and the to see how the growth of Willows power. I liked Dawn but I hate how Dawn makes Buffy such a bitch one point less.
4 - The initiative was an interesting idea (demons + technology) but the it was poorly executed and Riley was a drag. But the season have my three favorite episodes: Restless, Hush and Something Blue.
7- I hate Kennedy, I hate how Buffy goes from bossy to a total bitch, but I really like the spreading of power and again a giving us a deeper understanding of slayer power and power per se.
1- I find the master quite boring and the season really uneven.

If I must choose, my favorite season is six. I loved the way Willow got more and more powerfull and almost destroyed the world, I mean, finally. But what i liked the most was the spike/Buff romance. It was a realive when she finally looked at him. And Once More, with feeling, OMG, still singing the songs. Also liked season 7, everything but the end. I mean, at first the ep was pretty good, but c'mon, when buffy told spike she loved him, and he said 'no, u don't, but thanks for saying it' it almost brakes my heart. I mean he was about to die. the reason i love this season is that spike becomes the right man for Buffy, so why couldn't she love him back?? that wasn't rigth. i could watch all the eps, even the ones from season 1, but i really hate that part when she didn't love him.Worst season ever, the 4!!! Riley is the biggest mistake of the series. and also Down in season 5, i mean i couldn't stand her until season 7. Season 1 was pretty lame too, but it was 1996, so it's ok.botton line: Spike: the best caracter of the show, evil, hot, in love or soulless, i'd loved him since the first time he showed up. Anya: what a stupid thing to kill her at the end, and the worst af all: XANDER DIDN'T EVEN CARE!!!

I loved season 5, I think it's where the story really came into its own, it became more grown up and started looking at how buffy was really going to survive living as a full time slayer. I was unsure about the Dawn storyline when it first started, I thought they just added her in and expected us not to notice, but the way she was intergrated into the story I thought was amazing, and the ending was amazing.I also loved the Spike/Buffy storyline that went through seasons five and six, there was much more passion between them personally than with Angel, I know he loved her etc but his constant pulling away, whether it was becasue he loved her or not, made it hard for me to want them to be together, Spikes unwavering devotion and desperate desire for her was more heart wrenching to watch. The Villians in season six was what made it the worst for me, I loved Buffy and Spike and loved Willow at the end, but the 3 misfits who decided to group together as bad guys was pitiful.

When thinking about this show, I really cannot believe that I was only 7 years old when it all began. I really became a Buffy fan at around the age of 12, which at the time would have been season 6. Still love the show and own all the seasons...
Finally, after much thought, I think what made Buffy so great was the fact that not only were the seasons good and made you want to continue watching in order to feel for the characters, but each episode brought you closer to the lovely people of Sunnydale.
For me, Season 4 was the worst. I hated the Initiative, Adam and Riley. (It did have a few strong episodes, what with Buffy struggling with college, and the amazing episode of Hush) I loved the latter half of the 2nd season and all of the 3rd. (Loved the fact that they not only had to deal with the "Big Bad" Angelus, but with high school as hell. I also loved Dru and Spike) Season 6 just shows that Joss is a genius. I mean, it was a wonky season with the 3 nerds and Dark Willow, but showed the lowest points of life.
Loved Buffy and Angel together, though Spike is one of my favorite characters!!
Fav Episodes: Hush, Once More W/ Feeling, Amends, Becoming Part 2, and the Gift.

My favorite seasons would have to be five and six. I loved the plot and the overall arc in season five. However, season six is also tied because of the humanity in it. That season wasn't about all the baddies, but the humanity in every single person. The entire ending arc was Willow almost losing her humanity and only true, unconditional love and friendship (Xander) could bring it back. I'm sorry, but doing that in a show like that is amazing and it showed Joss's true genius. I love season six... plus I kind of loved the Geek Trio. They were funny and they were a good plot device to further explore humanity... especially since it was used in Normal Again in the world where Buffy was in the mental hospital to justify why she wasn't the Slayer. It was amazing.
As for least favorite seasons... I'm not sure. I didn't really like most of four, but then the ending was amazing. I'm currently rewatching the series so maybe I'll have a new least favorite season for you later.

Okay i just finished watching all 7 seasons in about 2 weeks, yes crazy. And honestly i can't seem to choose a favorite. My favorite characters are Spike and Anya (but not together) and also Xander. I am a Buffy&Angel fan as well as Buffy&Spike fan! It's hard to choose i like both there storylines with her, but if i had to choose it would be Buffy/Angel.
Season One - l honestly couldn't wait for it to end. It was a little lame to say the least. Buffy was actually quite annoying this season. And the whole Xander swooning over Buffy got annoying. But Angel was there :). I think Angel was a great episode in that season, my favorite. Least favorite eppisodes that season has to go to I Robot You Jane and Teacher's Pet. Seeing buffy as a vampire in Nightmare ws pretty cool.
Season Two - Where do i begin. It was such a great season, and to have it come after a season like the 1st one is pretty amazing. It was a heartwrenching season, and i could feel Buffys pain. I'm not really a huge fan of Dru like alot of other people. She's alright. I love evil Spike, he is great. I am not a fan of Cordelia but i did like her and Xander pairing up. Giles and Jenny were sweet, until Angelus snapped her neck. I am a BIG Buffy and Angel fan, their whole Romeo and Juliet love story is so traggic, i love it! Her sending him to hell and skipping town was an amazing season finale! Kudos Josh, amazing season. Episodes i loved were School Hard, Halloween, What's My Line Pt1&2, Suprise, Innocence, Passion, I Only Have Eyes For You, and Becoming Pt2. My least favorite episode that season was Inca Mummy Girl. My Favorite episode that season was has to go to Suprise. Overall season 2 was sooo good i truely loved it!
Season 3- Okay season 3. I really liked this season. I like Faith, i don't love her, i like her and I think shes a great, interesting character. It was pretty immature the crap the gang gave Buffy when she got back from L.A., i mean she saved the world! Put a sword through the love of her life and sent him to hell, you would be a little messed up too. The Mayor ! God he was so crazy i loved it. Angel coming back from hell and Buffy hiding him and torn up about her feelings, the whole thing was really great. I don't know why Faith turned evil though i didn't get it, but boy was she good at evil. It was hard to watch Angel break up with buffy and leave because you just knew they could never really work out. You could just see how much they loved each other, but they would always pull away. I didn't like how he just left too, it didn't seem to have that umf, i think it should have been done differently. I loved when all the students at graduation pulled weapons out and joined the fight! The Buffy/Faith smack down was pretty awesome, as well as Angel feeding off Buffy, great moment! Favorite episodes-Faith, Hope& Trick, Beauty and The Beasts, Revelations, Lovers Walk (spike!), Amends, Bad Girls, Enemies, Graduation Day Pt2. Least- Gingerbread
Season 4- Alright, let me start off by saying Riley is a complete tool. I don't know why Buffy would ever be with a guy like him. I honestly could not stand Riley. He was such a let down after a guy like Angel. Adam wasn't a great villian by an means. BUTTTT Spikes return really helped season 4 out. The whole college life and no Angel and no more library it was just all so different and not in a good way. I wasn't a big fan of season 4. Im all for change and i know it always happens when the characters go to college but come on. Anya & Xander helped as well. Season 4 was a let down after seasons 2&3 being so great. And the whole Parker bit was so dragged out and not neccessary. The only good episodes that season were when Faith and Angel came in for a second. Oz leaving was upsetting since I'm not a huge Willow/Tara fan. Tara is soooooo.. i cant find the word but shy and i dont know predictable? I LOVED the episode something blue with Buffy/Spike ! Favorite episodes- Something Blue, Hush, and Restless. HOW AMAZING were Hush and Restless!
Seasons 5- this season was soooo much better than 4. I really liked season 5. Of course because Riley eventually leaves, Spike realizes he loved Buffy, there kiss. The whole story line of season 5 was so creative and enjoyable to watch. I have to admitt I dont like Dawn. And in season 5 she is very annoying. And the thought that the past 4 seasons we watched, wasnt all that was there, was hard to grasp. The thought that all these things happened and Dawn was "right there". I dont like Dawn and Buffy's relationship this season at all. Buffy's mother dying was done so well, great episode. And Angel coming back to comfort Buffy i loved. Glory!!!! I thought she was a bittchin villan. I really liked Glory, she was great. The gift is such a great episode! I couldn't stop crying, i loved it i really did. All in all i thought season 5 was a change, and it was never boring, i really enjoyed watching season 5. Favorite eppisodes- Buffy vs. Dracula, Fool For Love, Crush, The Body, Forever, The Gift were amazing episodes.
Season 6- this season was so dark and crazy, i loved it. Bringing Buffy back and her coping with being ripped out of heaven, and spike being there for her (physically alot) was so great. Spike/Buffy's "relationship" was heartwrenching. You can see Spike really loved Buffy and would always do anything for her, but she didn't feel that way about him, she wouldnt let herself. Giles leaving was upsetting. Xander leaving Anya on there wedding day was really sad. I liked them as a couple alot. Anya and Spike getting it on and everyone seeing! Priceless. Loved it! You could see how jealous Buffy was. It was truely so hard to watch Seeing Red. Spike trying to rape Buffy was just so awful. Then him leaving and getting a soul! He always went above and beyond for Buffy, I love Spike. All the characters seemed to really progress in this season. Tara dying and Evil Willow was pretty great! Evil Willow rocked! she was so badass. I am a huge musical fan, so Once More With Feeling really knocked my socks off. I LOVED that episode. The cast did a great job singing. Season 6 was so dark and different, it was really amazing. Favorite Episodes- One More With Feeling, Tabula Rasa, Smashed, Wrecked, Dead Things, Older and Far Away, Entropy.
Season 7- season 7 just didnt do it for me. All the potential slayers were just too much. Spike with a soul and drooling over Buffy was okay. They never even kissed! Not once the whole season! What a let down. They just hugged and cuddeled alot, which was better than nothing i suppose. Caleb was a pretty cool bad guy i must say, pretty scarey. I wasnt a Kennedy fan. Faith coming back at the end was awsome, i liked her alot than. The thing that bugged me was Angel got back, and in 2 seconds Buffy was kissing him! I love Buffy and Angel, but after everything that happened they just start kissing. I dont know, odd. I wish in Chosen buffy kissed Spike before he died and saved the world. I thought season 7 wasnt nearly as good as season 6. I could really see how much Spike loved buffy, when everyone turned there back on her, he stood up for her! Gotta love him. I really thought more could have been done with Spike and Buffy, they had great chemistry. I did like the ending though, i wish Anya didn't die though, or Xander could have been there with her or something more. Part of me thinks Buffy should have died =x favorite episodes- Beneath You, Conversations With Dead People, Lies My Parents Told Me, Touched, Chosen.
All in all, Buffy The Vampire Slayer was an amazing show. 7 seasons is quite impressive. It is really hard for me to pick a favorite season. I really liked 2,3,5&6 ALOT. 4 and 1 are my least favorite. If i had to pick one season as my favorite I would say 2, My least favorite would have to be 4. Only because Angel was in 1:)
In order:2,6,3,5,1,4
And there you have it !

I have often pondered this question and I go back between 4 and 5 as the worst because the college setting never felt like home for the show. But because of Glory and Dawn, 5 is the absolute worst. I think Buffy should have thrown Dawn into the abyss! Also season 4 has the Oz drama that is rather compelling.
The best are a toss up between 2 and 3. Sex, Angel, Faith... All goodies.
TO DEFEND SEASON 6: 6 was a wonderful season but it was just psychologically painful to watch because Buffy was in a bad place. It had some very brilliant stand alone episodes (Musical, Tabla Rasa, Normal Again) and wonderful character arc for Willow.

ok 5 was totally the worst season... its something about that number 5 always not as good as the rest... i think the reason i dont like 5 is coz thats when they bring in dawn who is stupid and i dont no if everyone agrees with me here but i loved it in one of the last eps of season 6 when dark willow was all "your so winey, i could turn u back into a big ball of light, at least that would stop the wining" i was like horay! finally they acknowledge the fact that dawn sucks!
the best season was defiantly the 3rd, none of the others compete. the mayor was just such an awesome bad guy! and it was the last year of highschool... dont no about anyone eles but the highschool years were definatly the best... season 7 was also awesome especially andrews ep. but they kill anya so that makes me not like it that much...

I acknowledge that Joss was still working out the kinks (and it was a thousand times better than the movie, I'll give it that) but it was so horrible to sit and watch when the other seasons are floating around in the back of the mind.Season TwoThis season stands tall above all the other seasons for me. The Buffy/Angel love story at the beginning was pretty good. Then the evil Angel (he wasn't named Angelus until Angel.. so for now he is "Evil Angel") was so great. David Boreanaz didn't do much for me in season 1. Suddenly he can act! Genius! And that bit where he snaps Ms. Calender's neck, and then leaves the body for Giles to find in a romantic-ish type setting. So Cold! So Good! and while it was no "Hush" or "Once More With Feeling", "Killed by Death" was terrifying and amazing. It was the first episode I ever saw... and it turned me off Buffy for years (I was too scared to sleep the night I first saw it.. which just makes me love it more now that I'm all growed up and don't sleep with any stuffed animals at all.... *ahem*).Season 3Faith and Wesley! Faith is just super hot. And Wesley quite possibly my favourite Whedon character. All you nay-sayers can burn for eternity, but can you think of one character in all of Joss' work who developed as much as Wesley?Season 4Ugh. What happened? The highlight of this season for me was Spike mixing Wheatabix into his blood to give it more texture. The whole premise of the big bad just... argh. What was that!? Ok. I loved Hush. but I would have loved it so much more if Riley hadn't been involved. at all.Season 5Dawn shows up. Grace kicks the bucket. Then I went to sleep.Season 6"Once more with feeling" and "Tabula Rasa" were great episodes. Xander leaving Anya at the aisle was heart-wrenching and Buffy in Wonderland (aka ... not Wonderland at all) was a very interesting step back to reality. I realise that the Trio being "the big, bad" was just smoke and mirrors to pave way for Willow-us (it's a play on Angelus... you're just jealous because you didn't think to say it first) but I still hated the trio. So many bored episodes. But Willow going evil was great, and Buffy being stuck in a hole with Dawn while Xander stops the Apocalypse was really cool. oh, and I the only person who was glad to see Willow-light (Tara) killed?Season 7Liked Spike. Liked the music in the final fight scene. Can't think of much else I liked.

Once more with feeling and the body are by far the two best episodes.
I love every second of Tara being on screen, I'm still pissed that they didn't bring her back to life. I get the need to kill her, just not for her to stay dead. I never watch past her death anymore. Just the first half of seeing red and then I write my own ending.
As for the worst, HATED RILEY. Get the need for him but still that guy rubs me the wrong way. Face off's with Angel were good though.
Every time Willow says 'bored now' it brings up the quality of the show ten fold! If someone made a montage of that I'd never stop watching it.
Oh and Tara telling Spike to put an ice pack on it. Laughed my ass off!

best... hmmm... very hard, but i'd say probs 6... it is very closely followed by 5, 3 and 2.however. 4. where to start. i'm not even sure i can. it was painful from start to finish, it actually caused me to stop watching buffy when it was airing, and i only finished watching it years later via a dvd boxset.
