The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo finally has a name: Rooney Mara.
Mara has been cast opposite Daniel Craig (Casino Royale) in the U.S. film adaptation of the first book in Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, Sony Pictures announced Monday. David Fincher will direct.
Mara, who also stars in Fincher's The Social Network, will play Lisbeth Salander, a covert researcher who helps Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) try to solve a decades-old cold case.
In the 2009 Swedish adaptation of Larsson's book, Noomi Rapace portrayed Salander, while Michael Nyqvist played Blomkvist. The U.S. edition is set to begin shooting next month in Sweden.
