Hargitay on SVU Fate: "I Have a Lot of Faith It's Going to Work Out"

While ongoing contract negotiations continue to leave the fate of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit's two leads in question, Mariska Hargitay is optimistic.

"I hope so," she told Access Hollywood, when asked if she'll be returning as the NBC cop drama's Olivia Benson. "We're all trying to work it out and I have a lot of faith it's going to work out."

Hargitay's co-star, Christopher Meloni (Elliot Stabler), agreed: "It's a good vibe on the set," he said. "We all love each other. We're still happy with the stories that we're telling and you know, we'll see how it works out."

In recent weeks, negotiations between the actors and the network have been described as aggressive. "The show's coming back - with or without them," Marc Graboff, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, said during Monday's upfront presentation.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding her future on SVU, at least Hargitay is again enjoying good health, after suffering pneumothorax (a collapsed lung) this winter. "I feel great," she said. "I've bounced back [after I] had a scary couple of months."

Are you as optimistic as the SVU stars that they'll be back?

It's impossible to imagine SVU without Benson and Stabler. I don't have inside info on the glitch in their contract negotiations, but I hope that both of these stars realize how few of us actually get to say that we and our co-workers love each other, and that there's a good vibe in the work environment! Money's a fine thing, and I'd surely like to have lots more of it, but it's not necessarily the most important thing. No amount of money makes up for working with and/or for people you can't respect, doing something that isn't personally satisfying. Keep telling the stories you're still happy with. We love you.

Yes, I am definitely sure SVU will come back. After all, it's always been exciting and going on since a very long time back. Many teens to adults watch the Law&Order series and without a doubt, attracts many others. I simply love Law & Order. I go by it religiously.
