Donnie Darko is Getting a Sequel

Later this month, shooting will begin for a sequel to the 2001 film Donnie Darko (which was one of those love it or hate it kind of movies).

Daviegh Chase will be returning and starring as Donnie's younger sister Samantha, who 7 years after the death of Donnie will begin to get visions on a road trip to Los Angeles with her friends.

Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2 the Streets) and Justin Chatwin will also star.

What do you think? Should they just let Darko be, or do you think a sequel could turn out to be awesome?

The whole pretense of this second film is absurd, and the fact that it's not directed by the fabulous mr. Richard Kelly will ensure that it not only ruins the original for many of the fans, but flops entirely in the box-office. I expect nothing better than a poorly-written, superficial excuse for a script and a badly-done attempt to imitate Richard Kelly. A thumbs down for the director and the script-writer who make this mockery of a good movie possible.
