Here's a huge spoiler (not really): Hank owns a snuggie! I'm not making this up. This has totally blown my whole 'cool guy' image of him haha. I guess we know what he wears when he's at home writing. So anyway, Professor Hank has been good at keeping his hands off his students so far but he does get a little frisky this episode. Although it wouldn't be Californication if he didn't, right? "Verities & Balderdash" also contains some more appearances by our recurring guest stars, Embeth Davidtz (the mother of Becca's friend), Diane Farr (Hank's TA), and Peter Gallagher (the dean of Hank's university and husband to Embeth Davidtz's character, Felicia.
Meanwhile Charlie has a meeting with Rick Springfield (who makes a guest appearance!) which makes his sexually abusive boss (Kathleen Turner) extremely happy. For all you kids out there, here's a great drinking game to play while watching "Verities & Balderdash". Take a shot every time Kathleen Turner says "Wet". I guarantee you'll be throwing up by the end, and not from just the alcohol. Actually, all kidding aside, Kathleen Turner has been doing a fantastic job on the show and is a huge reason why I love the new season so much.
Charlie and Marcy are still fighting, although Charlie is given a chance in this episode to possibly start making up, if he doesn't blow it. Then, lastly, there is Becca. She is going through some serious teenage rebellion. I personally feel very uncomfortable listening to adolescent Becca talking about sex and drugs. She still feels like a little kid to me. Hank needs to lay down the law.
That's all from me. Check out the show and let me know what you think!
