Scrubs Buzz: Does the Show Have 9 Lives? - Featured

Scrubs is like the little show that just won't die. It's looking like, though last week's finale would have served as a perfect series finale, the show will indeed return for a 9th season.

Both Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke have signed contracts for 6 episodes apiece to help ease in the transition and set up the new storylines (and it's sounding like "Denise" is a frontrunner to be one of the new main characters).

Furthermore, though all attached to pilots, if Scrubs gets renewed, John C. McGinley, Donald Faison and Neil Flynn would all return as regulars.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Judy Reyes has not been approached for a deal (but how could there be Turk with no Carla?!?!?!), but might instead return as a guest star.

What do you think? Is this a bad decision on ABC's part? Frankly, I had already said my goodbyes and don't know if I will find a need to return.

I stopped watching this show a while ago. It started off great , but when it stopped being about the dorky interns and their messed up (in a funny way) lives and became about babies and families it just lost its original appeal (dare I say the excessive baby making was classic jump the shark moves??)
They really should have put it too bed before it becomes obsolete.

I think that the show had a good run and I really liked it, but i think that they wrapped it up so perfectly that to continue the show after that finale would really suck. J.D. is gone Turk and Dr. Cox have settled in for their new jobs, Dr. Kelso has left and I just think it would spoil the show to continue. The idea of continuing with a new cast and having the veteran actors be guest stars throws the show in a whole new direction. If they were going to do that they should have started several seasons ago, not right at the end. Its already wrapped in a bow, why rip it open?

After prob the best ending of any show i've seen, so perfectly done, funny with a tinge of sadness up until dr cox got fooled by j.d into saying he was his friend........thats where the tinge went and i was full on crying up until the end even off the outtakes lol.To carry on a bastardisation (excuse the french) of such a fantastic show would undermine and ruin such a good ending, how can it continue after we saw the flash forward of their futures, where everything was wrapped up so well?If ABC do carry on with this sub standard rip off i hope they at least change the name in some way so that its clear it isn't the same scrubs everyone no's because scrubs just isn't scrubs without zach braff, maybe if it was deliberately set out to be different new name or at least theme tune we could treat it as a seperate show?cheers to the cast and crew btw for pulling out all the stops for the finale :)

i think the series finale was an amazing way to end the scrubs lives of J.D and his crew since none of them are in scrubs anymore. and i had a feeling they would try to make the new interns the main cast. you could tell because they were definately introducing the intern in the last season.

ARG! I HATE ABC!
Let the show die.. This was one of the best show endings.. As the article says it was the perfect ending..
Going to ruin it! I of course will watch it when it returns, but no longer as my top show.. Thanks ABC you fail at life.

I think that the show had such a difinitive and fantastic ending that if it started up as the same show it would ruin all the work that was put into the show.
However if it was re-branded called something like interns and started as almost a spin-off it might just work.

i'm just guna think of it as JD's sacred heart finale rather than the whole shows finale as they're definately bringin it back now. theres still some good characters that the writers will get more out of.
As for Carla not being there she's pregnant with another kid so i think she'll be at home with both the little turks rather than stay on as a nurse.
I'm looking forward to the new series to see if the writers can live up to scrubs standards!! hopefully they will and everyone will still love it!!

Besides, ABC probably paid a hell of a lot of money for the show, and want to make a profit. Not saying I agree with them bringing it back, but they know they will have an audience.
