It's hard to focus on the other girls of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, no matter how much you want to, whenever Kim is around. Even though there are (rare) times she doesn't intend to be the center of attention, she ends up getting thrust into the spotlight, whether it's about her love life, her wigs, her catfights or her singing career. And the eighth episode of the second season is no exception.
A big chunk of "Scrambled Egos" consists of Kandi trying to convince Kim to conquer her fear of singing. Kandi presents Kim with her rendition of "Tardy for the Party" and Kim immediately loves the new upbeat version instead of the old country-style, though she firsts makes a big deal out of singing less than 10 words. Maybe Kim's just playing hard to get but she eventually gives in and is surprised, much like everyone else, with the outcome. In fact, she's so happy that she no longer wants to sing "Tardy for the Party" with NeNe ---which was the original plan in the first place.
You can immediately tell that this will cause tension and conflict between Kim and NeNe, who recently told People that "Kandi changed it from country to dance and so Kandi has a lot of beats going on in the back so you can't really hear her ... It's not about the vocal -- it's more about the beat. When you are singing country, it is more about the voice. I can't wait for you guys to see that episode. I think you guys are going to feel for me. 'Tardy For The Party' was my song. Now she's doing 'Tardy For The Party,' and I'm not on it. I don't care if I'm not on it."
As for the rest of the episode, Kim falls and scrapes up her legs and twists her ankle. She sees the alter ego photo exhibit but shortly makes her exit, leaving the other Atlanta ladies to think she's doing it on purpose.
